I heard about the Pope's latest speech on Islam this morning,
He sounds a lot like bush in his ignorance. He said that people( Islam ) should not force people to convert by coercion. Supposedly he was refering to parts of the Koran. He sounded like he was forgetting all about the Inquisition that forced Jews to convert on penalty of death, after a lot of torture.
He also mentioned that people should not put so much faith in science. (Remember the way the Church made that mistake with Galileo.)That putting faith in science takes away their ability to have faith in god.
Sounds so much like * to me.

1. Not sure I understand the relevancy of mentioning the history
of the church in conversion. They do no promote that now and decry it, so they progressed. Now they are calling on Islam to do the same. Should progressive people crawl under a rock if they belong to a group that did something bad, realized it, changed it, and now want others to progress in the same way?

And I somewhat agree in a general term on science - from the angle that you should not believe everything you hear from a 'scientific' study. Lord knows there are plenty of bad ones out there which seem to change with the seasons in their results. Science as a method is one thing, results by some are another. I think then too he might have been referring to leaning too much on science to solve your problems. Who knows.

And there was more to the Galileo story than meets the eye...

3. He has a reputation for being an intellectual with a great mind
His great mind shat out something about atheism being rooted in "fear of god." What does the phrase "God-fearing" mean to him, then? And how can you be afraid of something you don't believe in?

4. Catholic missionaries have been coercing native peoples to . . .
abandon their "heathen ways" and convert for centuries . . . those that didn't were often persecuted and/or killed . . .

5. He's a genuine Hitler youth
a complete fascist. He showed up in Germany last year just in time to help Merkel. Don't rule out an attack in Germany after he leaves. He is there to whip up the far right.

6. The Catholic Church has some very dirty hands, even today
and yet they still have the arrogance to condemn others.

And I agree, true Christians should not put any faith in science OR MEDICINE.

Why go to a hospital to seek treatment, right? You are just putting faith in science and trying to thwart God's will, when you should just stay home without medical care and pray.
