Did you see this yesterday? "ABC's '9/11' gives ABC win Monday" (Reuters)
By Paul J. Gough

NEW YORK (Hollywood Reporter) - Despite a 20-minute interruption from President George W. Bush, the second night of ABC's controversial miniseries "The Path to 9/11" won the primetime ratings race in key measures Monday.

"Path" took hits for its depiction of the Clinton administration's stance on terrorism, and several last-minute edits were made to assuage complaints about its inaccuracy.

But the miniseries faced a bigger threat from the Bush administration -- the president's 9 p.m. EDT Oval Office speech on the fifth anniversary of the September 11 attacks. Instead, "Path" started ahead at 8 p.m., and according to preliminary estimates from Nielsen Media Research, never looked back.

"Path" averaged 12 million viewers and a 3.8 rating/10 share in the adults 18-49 demographic according to Nielsen estimates. It's tough to know exactly because of time-period estimates and the impact of the president's speech.

Please, tell me how 11 million people watching this lie infested drivel being sold as the truth doesn't matter? :banghead:

1. That is only among the networks
This didn't include cable channels so it only had to compete against reruns. Monday Night Football was watched by more people.

2. It's still 11 million people
I'm sure that more people watched football and I understand it's not like the season finale of American Idol, but it's still 11 million people who watched a lie infested propaganda piece.

9. I'm getting the sense the only people that watched...
...are the ones that have already made up their minds to be steadfastly backwash.

Hey, maybe the reason they took out the commercials is so they could get the Kathy Keating audience, who are afraid to watch anything with ads in it because they might "hear the voice of Mr. M" and be drawn into the power of the anti-christ. :eyes:

10. They wish, their primetime viewership isn't nearly that high
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 09:39 AM by Lone_Star_Dem
This is 11 million people and is a sizable share of viewership. For example CSI is considered a well rated program and it held 10.67 million viewers last week.

29. That CSI # was for a repeat...
from last season. And what was it up against? A preseason football game?

34. You didn't read the article I posted did you?
From the article:

Nightly averages: ABC (11.9 million, 3.7/10); CBS (7.2 million, 2.3/6); Fox (6.6 million, 2.5/6); NBC (5.6 million, 1.8/5); and The WB (1.6 million, 0.6/2).

36. I read what you wrote:
For example CSI is considered a well rated program and it held 10.67 million viewers last week.

When you wrote "last week" I assumed you meant last week, which made me wonder if it was up against an NFL preseason game.

And I say again that CSI is in repeats. CSI usually draws over 18,000,000 viewers when it airs originals. American Idol is well over 20,000,000.

37. Right did not say otherwise
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 12:46 PM by Lone_Star_Dem
I used it as a reference for those who are used to a more simple approach. Thought it would help since it's popular and people know it's name. Beyond that it's immaterial.

The numbers in the article speak for themselves, however, which is why assumed you had not read it.

3. I don't believe anything the Corporate Media spins as "never look back"
:wtf: over! It's sounding like those whorish pollsters who worked for Nielsen Media Research are also being slipped Pentagon Money (Our Tax Dollars! = 20 million on Propaganda to us Peasant Classes) under the table in addition to their shameless News-Model colleagues. :grr:

I don't by this sh*t - not for one moment. Further I seriously doubt that any of our youth (20 y.o. and under) watched this Neo-Con InfoMercial slime because it was a snore-fest. :eyes:

5. This a huge win for the program's advertisers!
They must be very pleased. I didn't watch the crockumentary so I don't know who advertised but Casio certainly got a lot of postive exposure! ;-)

33. I was being sarcastic. The ratings win does nothing for ABC...
because it ran commercial-free.

"Because "Path to 9/11" will air without sponsorship, whatever audience it attracts won't be officially recorded by Nielsen."

39. gotcha!
The issue with me is that they were allowed to air it as a "docudrama" and how many people actually watched it.

I wasn't thinking they had gained anything other than a few new sheep for the heard. :)

7. More important, Clinton and others are the fools if they don't sue.
All the LETTERS that were sent were really pretty toothless.

Why are WE always taking up the charge when they won't?

I'm tired of it.

8. We need to take up the charge just BECAUSE they won't
Really, is it so little to sacrifice on our part. Think of all the good shows that have come and gone and yet we survive...we go on living.

Think of all the aid you could give to good candidates in the November elections with the time not spent watching ABC.

Finally, the idiots at ABC are running Grey's Anatomy against a very good and engaging show on CBS. Watch CBS instead.

They can say whatever they want as long as they have their "legal disclaimer". It's messed up but it's reality.

17. I'm boycotting Disney, too--including canceling a trip to Disney World
But ABC is easy if we just don't watch it. Think of the revenue loss if none of us turn into the new season! I hope that the season premiere of "Dancing with the Stars" was down in audience share last night. I hope that those angry at ABC/Disney had the balls simply NOT TO WATCH ABC.

18. I agree with this
Disney is EVERYWHERE and we should be too. I've called, written and emailed, but I still feel as if they've gotten their way and are thumbing their noses as us.

Who was it who had the cute pic of Mickey flipping the bird, do you know? I saw it and meant to say something but then closed the window and lost it.

I'm so angry, I don't get how an 11 million viewership doesn't make our Democratic blood simply boil.

Why should they have been, though? People don't seem to really give a flip about it after the fact.

I used my parental control feature to block them too. I went one step further and used my firewall to block all abc/go.abc from my computer. I refuse to even give them internet hits.

We're always so quick to discount the the lasting damage their BS does simply because we know it to be BS.

I just did a google news on 911.abc and this is what it showed.

It's not, "nobody's talking about it anymore and nobody's hollering "it's Clinton's fault"."

It's you've convinced yourself that anyone who is hearing about it doesn't matter.
