5. Looks like I may be switching from XM.
Most of my reason for spending all that money on a high-end XM radio was Mike Malloy. There's no doubt in my mind, if he shows up on Sirius that I will knock down doors to move over to them.

I'm going to inform Sirius of this today.

8. Hey Kathy
Hope you two end up on Sirius. I got a rather positive email from them as well. My message to them was simple, you hire Mike and I'll reactivate. Hang in there and I hope to hear live shows soon.

10. Pretty simple
They have multiple receivers and antennas for the home or car. It is a satellite signal, so an outside mount of an antenna may be required. Best thing to is go to Best Buy, Circuit City and take a look. Or...
http://www.sirius.com
Be sure to send them an email telling them you want Mike on Sirius.

Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 04:01 PM by roamer65
to the nearest retailer that sells it. It was about $125 for equipment and 12.95 a month when I used to have it. They may have better deals now. Shop around ;)

I have my old radio so all I have to do is reactivate via support or their website. I just bought a home kit for my radio on ebay. Be careful of buying the radio itself on ebay, though. You won't want to get stuck with one which still has a past due amount on it.

26. Cost information for XM/Sirius
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 06:42 PM by longship
My XM Cost: $150.00 for all the equipment (a "TAO XM2Go with both home and auto installation kits), activation fee, and three months of service. I found a coupon code online which gave me this $300 receiver for a helluva deal. Google "xm coupon" or "sirius coupon" for details on currently available specials.

Understand that this is a *high*-end receiver. It's a rechargeable portable which receives signals even by itself. Nothing like it is yet available for Sirius, although they have one coming on the market in a month or two. The Sirius version is very nice, but *very* expensive ~$300 and includes only the auto kit.

But there are less expensive units which cost much less than $100, some are only $20-$30. Monthly charges for either XM or Sirius is $13, cheaper if you do an annual subscription. A surcharge of $7/month upgrades to a family account (up to five receivers for XM, or up to four for Sirius).

Activation is $10 online, vs $15 via phone. However, I run Linux and XM online activation only works with Windows, so I shamed XM into not charging me the extra. I have no experience with Sirius.

One nice radio for Sirius is the Tivoli Sirius radio. I have a similar standard FM radio, the Tivoli Model Two to which I pipe my XM. Yes, it is pricey, but my Model Two sounds awesome. I use it with my XM to listen to beautiful sound. You can even add a Tivoli subwoofer to this. (I have this, too. Its difference is subtle but worth it.)

18. No prob...
...I already have friends of mine with Sirius who have emailed them to pick up Mike! Lynn Samuels, Mike Feder (and I think also Alex Bennett) on Sirius Left 146 have more than put Mike Malloy OVER, and said that Sirius NEEDS to pick him up, so that too HAS to help! Plus, with the Young Turks leaving for AAR (g_d help them!) this leaves 6-9a ET open! SIRIUS, PLEASE! DO NOT MISS THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY!!!!!

14. Beware of SIRIUS though
don't ever expect to get much help from CC if you have problems and read your terms of agreement VERY carefully. I used to work a SIRIUS call center and I left due to ethical reasons because I didn't feel we were serving the customer. Great programming but be careful.

Wrote them the day Malloy was fired and received an immediate email back saying that my email plugging Malloy, sounded very interesting "with possibilities".......

However, I don't believe shit until it happens..."Sirius Left" is pretty fucking middle of the road 'progressive' talk radio...

BUT that excellent spot right after the idiot "Young Turk" is opening up I guess since they are moving to AAR?

I would continue to write Sirius though...they need swaying!

27. SIRIUS could really use him, too
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 06:52 PM by Mike03
I'm not that crazy about Sirius' current lineup on their progressive channel--in fact, I listen to Bill Press sometimes, but XM has (or had) the far better lineup.

If the TalkLeft channel won't take him, a really crazy idea would be to offer him to Howard 101. They have been experimenting with political hosts, and Howard Stern can't stand Bush, his war or his administration.

Satellite radio is absolutely awesome. I don't understand why it hasn't completely overtaken terrestrial radio by now.

I just sent my comment to Sirius too. I have a receiver just waiting to be reactivated and will be more than happy to come back as a customer. Switched to XM in December of 2005 when I heard Malloy was coming to XM.

I hope they rehire him; would love to hear him there again!

when they move to AAR (provided they actually leave Sirius as well- I don't know if the deal calls for that). Malloy would be good there.

34. I have Sirius & XM
My friend bought me Sirius and when AAR went to XM I bought XM for my house and didn't drop Sirius because I didn't want to hurt my friends feelings. It costs me about $25 a month for both but I really like having lots of choices of who to listen to for I work at home.
The Young Turks can be entertaining but they don't compare to Randy & Mike. I live way out in the country so without satellite radio I wouldn't pick up much.
