More proof that W's War on Terra is a bunch of crap
Cuban bomb suspect to be released

12 September 2006

A US court has ruled that a Cuban wanted on terrorism charges by Cuba and Venezuela should be set free from a Texas immigration detention centre.

Ex-CIA operative Luis Posada Carriles was held for crossing illegally from Mexico after serving time in Panama for plotting to kill Cuba's Fidel Castro.

Mr Posada Carriles faces deportation, but it cannot be to Cuba or Venezuela.

Venezuela, which says he was behind a 1976 plane bombing that killed 73 people, condemned the latest ruling.

Here is a real terrorist who was behind numerous bombings and attempted bombing, included bringing down a passenger jet on the way to Cuba. Both Venezuela and Cuba are willing to take Posada in order to put him on trial, yet the US is probably going to let this SOB go free. Even if he wasn't a terrorist, he was smuggled into the US illegally and should be treated like any other illegal alien. If this bastard is allowed to go free and to live in this country, then we will know that W could care less about stopping terrorism.

1. This guy is special. He is a US supported anti-Castro terrorist. It's not
his fault that he murdered a bunch of innocent civilians, including children. It's their fault, of course. For being on that plane, or for being anywhere he wanted to make his 'statement'.

In a even remotely just world, he would have been on trial decades ago.

5. Here's another good reason Posada should not be released
Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 07:21 AM by DoYouEverWonder
Santiago Alvarez is the man who snuck Posada into the US aboard his yacht. There is every reason to believe that before Posada was arrested that he was involved in this plot. Has the judge in Texas considered these facts?

2 plead guilty in weapons case

Sep. 12, 2006

Two anti-Castro activists in their 60s pleaded guilty Monday to a weapons-conspiracy charge on the eve of their high-stakes trial in Fort Lauderdale federal court -- a jury proceeding that could have ended with imprisonment for the rest of their lives.

Instead of running that risk, Cuban exiles Santiago Alvarez and Osvaldo Mitat cut plea deals on one count of conspiring to possess illegal weapons, which carries a five-year maximum prison penalty. The men, who remain in custody, face sentencing Nov. 14.

Alvarez, 65, and his friend Mitat, 64, avoided the distinct possibility of going to trial today before a Fort Lauderdale jury and being convicted of possessing illegal weapons, too. Those charges, coupled with the conspiracy charge in the original indictment, carried a maximum of 20 years in prison.

Two dozen family members and supporters attended the afternoon hearing before U.S. District Judge James Cohn, who had rejected bids by the pair's legal team to move the trial to Miami federal court. Cohn also opposed their latest proposal to include Cuban Americans from Miami-Dade County in the Broward County jury pool.

6. But to Bush and his ilk, Posada isn't a terrorist
He's a freedom fighter.

Just like Osama was once a freedom fighter when Reagan was helping him out.

7. I'd like to hear Chimpyboy stumble through an explanation of how Carriles'
brand of terrorism differs from that of the evil "Islamo-fascists".

8. I'd like him to explain
how Alvarez was able to stockpile C-4 explosives in a Broward County condo.
