How I truly despise these people.
I was perusing this evening, when I noticed this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=364x2123336

It's about three new housing developments in TN with a fundamentalist Christian flavor: banning bars, biblical street names, and basically one step short of signs saying "No unbelievers allowed."

It set me off a bit, because I have nothing but contempt for these people, being the mixed lot of idiots, sociopaths, and megalomaniacs that they are. Weak-minded fools fleecing others in the name of God, pretending to be so rightous, when all it really says is that if they're not confronted by some reminder of their religion every single second, they can't keep the facade up. Their faith isn't strong enough that they can live like normal people. They're not pure of heart enough that they could live near a bar, or a massage parlor, or God forbid, people of a different belief, without having their entire worldview come crashing down around them. No, they have to build themselves a little walled enclave so that they never see anything that they would find ever so slightly tempting or unholy--because, you see, they're good Christians. So much for carrying Jesus in their hearts.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew, 6:5-6.

1. As a Buddhist
I feel like I am right in the middle of a religious jihad. Christian on one side and Islam on the other....and both think their god is the only. It reminds me daily why I am not a believer in organized religion. They BOTH have no clue about goodness, peace and the freedom to worship whatever you believe.WHY do they have no problem blowing up Mother Earth?

4. I WILL PRAY FOR YOUR A$$!!
:P

In "Black Like Me" the author came into a new town and asked a guy where the nearest public bathroom was and also asked where the nearest church was. The man asked "Are you looking for a place to pi$$ or a place to pray?" And his answer was "I reckon a man needs to do a little bit of both."

3. "go ahead and hate your neighbors ..."
I did not follow the link, but your hatred seems a little over done. You hate them because they like Biblical street names? You hate them because they do not like bars?

Your guessing at their motives for building these communities does not seem logical. Why not have compassion for "weak minded fools" and "idiots"? The quoted Bible verse does not make sense in this context either. What does praying on the streets have to do with anything here?

They NAMED those streets after their religious heros! Are you not seeing their public display out of willful ignorance?

9. a public display of willful ignorance (PDWI)
So you would say that any PDR conflates with praying? Ah well, nobody ever said hatred was logical.

5. Let 'em hide

This is one of the late stages of these peoples' retreat from the Modern world. They form their own communities, which seem to grow, but then their children leave them and the horrible narrow life they lead, and then their enclaves amount to dying little social islands of people unable to cope with the real world.

When Republicans lose this year and in '08 the Nixon coalition blows apart, and the real losers are the Christian Right. Without majoritarian power the whole Christianism enterprise fails; these people will withdraw into state governments, then local governments, and in due course withdraw from the political system, i.e. stop voting, altogether.

6. Superstitious fools....I am sick of their invisiable friend too!!
You quoted a passage out of that damn book, you dont think they actually read it do you?? 90% of them do not read it or have a clue what they hell they are praising.

More Athesit know more about that fucking religion then the people who follow it (Blindly)..Sheeples I tell ya, Sheeples every thinking their hate is going to get them into that place that does not exsist.. Someone told me that when an Atheist is taking their last breath they will plead they do not want to die and when a Xtian is taking its last breath, they just goto sleep.

Now, no one wants to die and I mean NOBODY! I dont care how much someone believes in the increadiable invisible superfriend, they do not want to die. What these so called Xtians front is just a front, without tangable evidence of the exsistence of God, Jesus and Satan....Its all a shame and they are all suckers for it.

The way they are flaunting and EXCLUDING people is not what I would call xtian in the least; those are some pricey shacks too...

10. Ever see the Simpsons episode where Flanders moves to a town like that?
They basically run him out of town for having a moustache. They call it the Devil's Toothbrush or something like that. It was a great, great episode.
