American Airlines letter to me "Inaccurate and irresponsible"...
I wrote them asking (basically) how could I feel safe flying American Airlines if they didn't follow their own policy and let people on board who had been flagged as suspicious. Here is there response:

September 12, 2006

Dear Uppityperson:
Thank you for your email.
The Disney/ABC television program, The Path to 9/11, which began airing last night, is
inaccurate and irresponsible in its portrayal of the airport check-in events that
occurred on the morning of September 11, 2001.
A factual description of those events can be found in the official government edition
of the 9/11 Commission Report and supporting documents.

1. That might be the perfect way
to get to ABC and Disney, through AA.

That was a great idea, sending them a letter.

2. Thanks, got the idea here on DU.
I am not going to not watch ABC, watch little tv as it is but this doesn't seem to do much. If others want to not watch, that is fine though. We are different we all do different things. Writing AA might not seem like much to some, but I thought it a good idea. Onward.

3. Yes, sic all of them on each other.
Everyone should write to AA about this.

Also, I would think that the other networks would love an opportunity to trash their competition and label them inaccurate and irresponsible.

Hmm... Just a thought but, suppose all of the other networks started receiving thousands of angry letters from confused viewers telling them that, by airing "The Path to 9/11", they are being inaccurate and irresponsible. They might all stand up and publicly announce that they did not air it and furthermore they would never air anything so inaccurate and irresponsible. Wouldn't it be great to have a loud media chorus labeling it that way! I'm sure it wouldn't work, but it's a nice dream.

4. What happens when you play the fool for the Devil
AA is learning. They contribute heavily to the Repugs only to be slapped around like this. They asked for it and deserve the fallout. Maybe it'll teach them to be a bit more judicious in handing out their political support.

5. Another thought...
How about letters to the editor criticizing AA for not following their own policy and letting people on board who had been flagged as suspicious. Make them stand up and publicly denounce the program.

Also call talk shows and complain. Imagine Rush or O'Reilly trying to defend one major corporation without trashing the other!

6. Note to lurkers
The terrorism, the fact we were attacked, the fact this has been spun into lies and deceptions through this movie, these are the reasons I wrote them and encourage others to do so also. My agenda is to stop the lies, stop the deceptions, go after the thugs that attacked us rather than using these horrific deaths for political purposes, to start other wars. This end justifies these means.

8. Thanks. I meant lurkers meaning not those who would write
but those who are complaining that all we do is "political, not caring about the people that died..." bs as they don't seem to get it. Thanks for writing them too.

9. Official Gubmint edition and supporting documents?
I've read the report line for line many times, and this is the only reference I can find pertaining to passengers being allowed to board after being flagged as suspicious.

"Even though several hijackers were selected for extra screening by the CAPPS system, this led only to greater scrutiny of their checked baggage."

I'm wondering; what passage in what paragraph of what "supporting document" was Ms. Riley referring to in her response to you?

And no, I'm not an F'ing freeper or troll. Notice the star next to my name.

I'm just a little curious.

I DID think that what I saw of the mockumenatary last night was insidious and deceitful. But help me out here, because I'm a little frustrated at both sides on this issue...

10. Why don't you write her and ask her directly? You can copy this reply
Why don't you write her directly and ask her what she was referring to since she is the one that wrote the reply. You have my permission to copy this response so she knows what you are talking about.

And, by the way, a star indicates you have donated some money to DU. It does not say how much, can be minimal or a lot, and does not indicate non-freeper/troll/disruptor hood. Not calling you any of these, but "I have a star" means thank you for helping financially support DU and the admin's hot tub. That is all.
