Air Force chief: Test weapons on testy U.S. mobs
http://www.cnn.com/2006/US/09/12/usaf.weapons.ap/index.html

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Nonlethal weapons such as high-power microwave devices should be used on American citizens in crowd-control situations before being used on the battlefield, the Air Force secretary said Tuesday.

The object is basically public relations. Domestic use would make it easier to avoid questions from others about possible safety considerations, said Secretary Michael Wynne.

"If we're not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation," said Wynne. "(Because) if I hit somebody with a nonlethal weapon and they claim that it injured them in a way that was not intended, I think that I would be vilified in the world press."

The Air Force has paid for research into nonlethal weapons, but he said the service is unlikely to spend more money on development until injury problems are reviewed by medical experts and resolved.

15. The REPUBLIKLAN Party's continued war on Democrats and Liberals.
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 10:51 PM by liberaldemocrat7
We have a new enemy to replace communism. We have the war on terrorism which appears a straw man to actually fight liberals. We have the new McCarthyism.

The deliberate deficit spending of the Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II regimes appeared deliberately designed to prevent Democrats once they get into power from increasing spending on social programs.

2. Hey, now isn't that precious, let's use explosive bullets on
...American citizens in crowd-control situations before being used on the battlefield. Those hit by them will have no doubts as to their effectiveness and it will demonstrate to others witnessing the effectiveness that domestic use on them also would make it easier to avoid questions from others about possible safety considerations. This guy Secretary Michael Wynne is a social Darwinian genius!:wtf:

5. No see
I read that a little less sinisterly (is that even a word?)

I read that to say that we shouldn't be using things like whte phosperous and other weapons of that type on foreign populations.

Hmm, how else to say it... We shouldn't be using weapons like that on people that aren't Americans if we're not willing to use them on Americans becasue non-Americans are NOT sub-humans.

Funny that I read it that way because I'm usually one to take things in the worst way possiblly.

6. He's right. And I feel the same way about mustard gas and chainsaw-bombs.
If we can just show the world how humane our mustard gas attacks are... why, I'm sure Rush Limbaugh will remind his listeners that this is the same mustard people put on their hot dogs--and how dangerous can a hot dog be?

There are ways to protect yourself from this shit..

http://www.gallawa.com/microtech/metal_arc.html

Microwaves can be reflected just like a mirror reflects light from a laser. These cweapons are very easy to turn against their users. Save your old TVRO satellite dishes, or other concave dishes you may need them for self defense some day. Cover it with bright aluminum foil and you have a laser reflector microwave bounce arc weapon,or a sunlight weapon of your own.
Oh,and DO wear metallized sunglasses! The eyes are filled with thick liquid, (remember egg in a microwave? Microwaves COOK you, so liqid filled parts they need to be protected .

Think of it as scaled up microwave oven without enclosure.

18. Wynne never impressed me until now.
I mean sure, to suggest using microwave weapons on protestors is morally reprehensible, but it sure takes balls. I always figured he was just a paper-pusher, but now I know he's just as evil as the rest of them.

24. I don't get
The negative responses to what seems like good simple logic to me. If the weapons are truely non-lethal humane crowd control measures then why wouldn't we use them here in crowd control situations. If we don't what message does that send to other parts of the world when we deploy them there. It seems like a real ligitimate concern the Air Force has raised about the tactical use of their weapons.

26. reading his statement
I never said they should be used. Their non-use seems like what the likely scenario is going to be. The AF isn't going to spend more to developed them until safety concerns are worked out.

Are there situations where non-lethal weapons used to disperse crowds could prevent loss of life. Yeah I think so. Pursuit of such weapons does not appear to be pure evil.

My God. I thought this was from the Onion, seriously.

This guy is just a little off...

"If we're not willing to use it here against our fellow citizens, then we should not be willing to use it in a wartime situation,"

We have to use this in campaign ads. We're just crash test dummies (sounds like a song;).

I think this is back wards,

See Wynne, we have weapons to make sure others don't use their weapons against us; not to use against our own people. Let's go over that again, OK...it's important
