I realize F911 was already done. but what about a documentary that portrays all the neglect and incompetence of this administration, portrays all the exploitation of 911, and details the b.s. involved in invading Iraq?

No need for it to even be accurate. Fair is fair. Why not fight fire with fire?

1. Frankly, I expect a firestorm of . . .
AntiBush media, starting soon after November. I think the loss of the the House and/or the Senate will signal first to the news media and then to the entertainment media (yeah, I know, the difference is moot) that there's blood in the water and feeding is to begin.

Failing dem success in November, Bush will still be President Lameduck, which will unleash the same flood, just a little later.

Or at least so I opine.

4. There already is one
It's called "Fahrenheit 911."

Don't expect any of the good puppy networks to show it, not ever.

5. There are many documentry's that are out there...
I think that if shown over and over again they will continue to have impact...

There is one thing that the Rovian machine can't change, "The Republicans were in power when this disaster hit"!! And their ineffective response to every issue since then has been a disaster....

7. Much more accurate 911 documentary about John O'neill
Edited on Tue Sep-12-06 04:22 PM by commissure
The only good thing about this path to 911 mocucrap movie was that it got me thinking about this guy John O'Neill (Harvey Keitel character). I wanted to learn much more about him since he seemed to know what the hell he was doing and had a real persistence on the issue and would not let up and would not give up Osama like some presidents we know. If the FBI listened to him and the white house, 911 would not have happened, guaranteed!!!!!

So I wikipedia'ed him:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_P._O%27Neill

Cool, there is a PBS documentary on him specifically!!!!
http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/knew/

You can watch if free on line. I am into the first few segments. Awesome!!! This is how a documentary should be. First account witnesses, actual interviews. You get a real sense of the man. Nothing like Harvey Keitel's guy. They gave him no guidance on how to play the man. This guy died working at the Twin Towers being head of security there knowing that most likely they would attack again. He spent day and night thinking about these terrorist. He set up an FBI team to get an early ring leader Ramzi Yousef. He caught him!!! Richard Clark calls him on his first day of work from the Clinton White House on a Sunday and he is there. This guy was an pit bull. He was on Osama's trail before 911!!!! If he had survived the attack, he would have captured Osama and Bush would have tried to take the credit. This guy deserves the Presidential Metal of Freedom and not George Tenet! This guy put aside his home life to run down bad guys. Amazing story.

8. Making a movie like that assumes that free artistic expression
...is acceptable in America. That is not the case. Even if such a movie were to be financed and produced, corporate decision makers, the neoconservative legal system and the power elite would either censor or confiscate all of the negatives and/or digital data disks and most certainly attempt to kill or interfere with the distribution of such a film. Now that fascistic attitudes have infiltrated all levels of our country, the task of bringing out anything but the official version of the truth has become even more daunting. Those who seek to keep the truth from being known will find any error or inaccuracy grounds to ban a film. Regardless if a film contains any thread of truth about something which the ruling class believes is dangerous, such a film will never be allowed to be viewed by the masses in its original form.

<snip>
For nearly the entire history of film and movie production, certain films have been either boycotted by political and religious groups or literally banned by a regime for political or moral reasons. Paradoxically, banning a movie often completely fails to achieve its intention of preventing a movie from being seen—the publicity given worldwide to banned movies often results in it being given attention it might not otherwise receive.

With the advent of the Internet, the ability of groups or governments to ban a film is hindered. High-speed Internet access and better file compression give more people access to digital copies of movies that might not be available for viewing in theaters.

Many governments have commissions to censor and/or rate productions for film and television exhibition. From a government standpoint, the censoring of films is more effective than banning, because it limits the scope of potentially dangerous or subversive cinema without overtly limiting freedom of speech.

In the United States, there has never been national censorship. However, currently the motion picture industry maintains the MPAA Ratings, which are issued to individual films submitted to the MPAA as a means of identifying those with content not considered suitable for children and/or teenagers. The MPAA system is purely voluntary, for both movie makers and theaters. However, almost all theaters in the U.S. use the MPAA system, and many will refuse to show films which are unrated. From 1930 to 1964 film censorship boards did exist on state and/or local levels in some venues in the USA. The MPAA attempted to satisfy requirements of these disparate boards by creating films the Motion Picture Production Code in the late 1920s, another voluntary system designed and implemented by the MPAA. Films were either approved or not under the Code, and those that were generally had little or no problems passing muster with state or local censors.

9. besides F911 (documentary), I meant a docudrama
Remember who the audience is. Mom and Pop Smith don't want to watch educational documentaries. They want soap operas, "24," "Prison Break"-type stuff.

Work the audience. They are.
