Hey Daily Show/Colbert Report fans w/o Cable TV! Tonight you're in Luck!
I'm re-posting this for those who forgot or missed it (and because I can't find my old post due to the high traffic/loss of advanced search), Tonight are new (and great) shows from both The Daily Show and Colbert Report, so do this now! The West Coast feed starts at 2:00am EDT (about 10 minutes)! So download now, I promise, it's virus and Spyware free, and totally free (for now, when they officially roll it out later this year it might cost something).

Hey all you non-cable household DUers, who still like to see The Daily Show or Colbert Report every so often (when everyone here is raving how good it is tonight) YOU JUST GOT CABLE!

Well, not really, but this (currently free) "over the Internet" Broadband TV service I found during the World Cup final (called TVU) just added a Comedy Central Channel!!! I think it's the West Coast feed, so you'll still be a few hours behind some of us, but still it's better than waiting until someone uploads it to YouTube or something.

I don't know that much about it, but I think it works like bit-torrent, where the more people who are watching a channel the better the download speed. The Comedy Central channel is a little choppy now, but it's very new, so it should get better when more people find it, and currently it's free. I'm not sure what will happen once it's "officially launched" later this year, all I know is IT WORKS.

Most of the current channels are from China and the far east, but they DO have one channel of HBO! It's still growing too, the number of channels has more than doubled since I first found it a few months ago.

Check it out, here are the links to download the TVU Player and more info about the company:

4. I'd think carefully before downloading software from that site. Their
list of company executives page is "under construction". There could be trojans/worms/viruses etc. in that software.

5. I've been using this version and the previous ver. since July, it's clean.

I have SpySweeper, Norton Anti-virus, Norton Internet Security, AdSubtract and the safe guards that are built into FireFox, all of them have monitoring that set off alarms if they detects anything bad. None of them have set off a single alarm or found anything in the numerous sweeps I do each month.

Believe me, I wouldn't be posting something here that was full of bad stuff, doing something like that would probably get me banned.

The reason the site is under construction is because TVU is brand new, it's still being build, literally, and it hasn't officially launched yet in it's final form. The number of channels have more than doubled since I first found it.

I know it's hard to believe that something like this is actually free, but for now, it is. It might not be in a few month when they launch it and start advertising the site, but that won't happen until they have all the channels hooked up or nearly all of them.

If you don't believe me, just download it, then do a virus scan if that will make you feel better. I felt the same way when I first tried it, but it is clean.

The only thing I don't like is I think it has to set a temporary Cookie, but even DU does that.
