Guess there won't be a rush to assist people in the next disaster of the
9/11 type due to respiratory problems. First responders should be equipped with respiratory equipment before diving in to help or they risk their own health. Some people are now saying that since their families lives have been so adversely affected by their health problems that if they had to do it over they would not do it.

2. On one end it is asbestos, on the other it is depleted uranium.
Do we even have a federal plan in place to equip and train first responders in this way? If there is another 9/11, I bet Bush/Cheney will send out the military to take care of the situation. They have the equipment and are used like pawns. Plus we all know how much Cheney likes Vets and spending money to take care of the disabled. They sacrificed, as we are told.

4. the first responders should have finished up there within days.
not much to save, but the reclamation crews, should all have been OSHA 1910.120 certified and under the direction of qualified supervision. many people volunteered and use was made of the free labor with no questions asked. not only did the epa lie about conditions it also broke federal regulation allowing unqualified people into an exclusion zone knowing they had inadequate protection or any real training on use of personnel protective equipment.

15. It is a huge health disaster, seems that Bush is good at that one.
I remember how Reagan played around with the EPA and reduced it to nothing. I'm surprised we even have OSHA at all.

that the air at the Pile was oh, just fine. The Cabal wanted Wall Street open and the hell with the rest of us.

Edit: Names are hard for me, too, but this one I'll never forget.

18. The WTC had to have literally TONS of asbestos within the structure,
considering the time of its construction (late 60s to early 70s). All of this material was completely pulverized into tiny fibers in the collapse, and had to be airborne for weeks if not months. I recall when they did some work on my laboratory here at work, and there apparently was some asbestos used in the flooring glue under the old tiles that were being removed. They had to do the work at night, and the workers involved wore the full "space-suits" so as to not have any contact with the miniscule amount of fibers involved...

20. More of this government's lies
Governmental agencies reported that the air was safe to breathe when privately contracted agencies said it was not.
How can anyone even begin to start holding these criminals accountable for all that they have done?

up for their actual treatment. So fucked! The way they did these men is deplorable and should be treated criminally! Just like leaving nursing home victims in homes with water rising! Indict, Try, Convict, Imprison!

28. Once it was clear that there were no more survivors
there was no longer a need to rush to clean up the site. Too bad the criminals that wanted the site cleaned up so badly were in such a hurry to get rid of the evidence and used the emotions of the rescuers trying to recover their friends to keep things moving.

And they didn't care if they were sentencing the clean up crew to death.

Our government is homicidal. I hope that's clear to everyone by now.

31. 'cept no one is sayin whether those stock brokers
are doing OK.... I gotta wonder. That air was the worst in the pit... but how much had some level of toxicity when the stock market re-opened. They had people in those buildings getting stuff back together during the week that it was closed.

The dust didn't raise up and discriminate by class.

33. Wall Street has ten's of thousands of people working in a very small
area. Not all of them are multi-millionaires. Everyone from the messenger boy to the CEO was affected.

Not arguing with getting Wall Street rolling but people should have been protected...

I wonder how much of that stuff still lingers in the air.

I am a regular on quite a few Nursing BB. Did you realize at least 12 of those first responders were Nurses (most people don't).

First they lie to you about the air quality and you risk life shortening chronic illnesses. Then if that isn't enough, they bring you up on murder charges if you try to provide a humane, comfortable, and dignified death to someone in a hopeless situation, like the Doc and Nurses that were abandoned at a hospital in New Orleans with out power, water, etc for God knows how many days. We have forced mandatory overtime in some places on a daily basis. So why should we jump through hoops to be abused and abandoned later. Health care workers have been paying attention to how they are treated. There is a shortage of us and there aren't as many coming wanting to do this work.

Years ago I wouldn't hesitate to volunteer, but not anymore. The safety and security of my family comes first. I will help friends and neighbors when I can. But frankly folks.......my GIVEADAMN is BUSTED.
