Majority of Alabama voters say invasion of Iraq was 'right thing'
The Associated Press

A majority of Alabama voters say the United States "did the right thing" when it invaded Iraq in 2003, with support strongest from those who are middle-aged, white, male, upper-income and Republican, a new poll found.

The survey released Monday found a smaller percentage gave President Bush a favorable rating on his handling of the war, with 49 percent approving and 40 percent disapproving, with the rest unsure.

The poll, conducted by UAB communications studies professor Larry Powell for The Birmingham News, WBRC-TV in Birmingham and WAFF-TV in Huntsville, found a striking divergence between whites and blacks in support for Bush's handling of the war.

Among white voters, 57 percent said they approved of Bush's handling of Iraq, while 33 percent said they did not. Among black voters, only 4 percent approved, while an overwhelming 84 percent said they did not.

1. I knew that. An ex-boss of mine, a big Bill Frist fan, loved killing in
Iraq. Talked about how great it was all the time. And he was a wimp ass that never served one day in Viet Nam. A PR guy in the Army. A rich, white southern FAT ASS.

2. Funny how the popular "safe" Democratic strategy
to reach out to supposed swing voters is to criticize the handling of the war without arguing if the war was wrong in the first place. It is an opinion held by white, middle aged, upper-income males, which just so happens to describe the Democratic strategists who come up with using that approach to be more "electable." What a funny coincidence. At some point the Democratic Party has to decide that its going to be something other than one group of rich middle aged white men talking to other upper-middle class, middle aged white men.

4. Most of the kids killed over there
Are black urban kids or poor rural white kids. So why should some rich fat fuck care? We really should deport the lot of them. With a big fucking catapult.

6. While it would be karma for Sean Hannity to be drafted
I would not want a twit like him given the responsibility of protecting other troops' backs; they'd find themselves under heavy fire only to see their "buddy" Sean running with his tail between his legs.

7. I guess you can tell which ones are actually fighting the war.
Send their kids over there as enlisted men and see how long their support lasts. It's easy to support something when it's someone else's kid doing the dying.

8. So why don't they go fight it? Really, I think anyone who is
for these wars, regardless of their age or physical condition, should be made to go fight it. Screw them!

10. It's unlikely the "random phone survey" is predictive because it probably
excluded cell phones and it certainly excluded those who do not spend time near their home phones or have no phone at all.

The article also fails to say how many people contacted refused to participate.

Conclusion: Interesting report but not necessarily statistically valid
