In what appears to be a new series, Ted Koppel led a town hall discussion about the impact of heightened security on our freedom and the trade off that has ensued since 2001.
Besides the panel that included many credible (or not) experts like Gorelic, Ridge, Roemer, Wilkinson, and 9/11 families, there were taped interviews with other high profile figures such as Rice, Tenet, and Kean.
It was notable that Koppel used an agressive interview technique that hasn't been seen since the last century. He refused to accept the obsurd talking points that pass for answers these days on so called "news shows".
It was interesting to hear Tom Ridge (perhaps explaining his departure from the administration) pointing out that "he's heard too many people tell him that 'I've got nothing to hide, so I don't mind' and that the current battle against terror should not require a rewrite of the Constitution,"
At the end Koppel wrapped it up by saying that "he knew of only one country that has no worries of terror." "One country that is absolutly safe from attack by foreign terrorists." "That country is North Korea." He implored the audience to "think about that".
It appears this show is now a series on Discovery Channel, and I'll be watching.
