The fundie lady at work just asked my feelings on "the" anniversary...
So I answered her:

Disgusted...that this administration used 9/11 to start a war that they'd conceived well before they took office, a war that had nothing to do with 9/11 or terror.
Disgusted that they used 9/11 to shred the Constitution, scare people into giving up their civil liberties, spy on peace groups and Quakers, and even more disgusted that the American people have been so compliant.
Disgusted that they have used 9/11 to demonize people based on their religion or perceived ethnicity.
Disgusted that they've taken the post-9/11 goodwill and pissed off just about every ally we have, and once Tony Blair leaves, we probably will lose Britain too.
Disgusted that they invoke 9/11 to justify everything they do and "McCarthyize" anyone who stands in opposition.
Disgusted that they seem to think dropping bombs and killing families will wipe out terrorists, when all it will do is create more.
And disgusted most of all that Americans have allowed fear to cloud their judgement, and to cheerlead while these bastards fuck up my world....

After that, she frowned, and she and her "Freedom Isn't Free: Never Forget 9/11/2001" button slinked off.

2. Her frown was a signal that her dim little brain...
was severely overloaded by the truth you were speaking.

3. True....
You could tell she wanted to respond but couldn't come up with an argument. She's probably reported me to the FBI.

4. Wooow! that was powerful and in-your-face answer
She will have to contemplate that one for a long while to find anything at all to calm her a bit!
Thanks a lot.

5. Freedom ISN'T free. And it isn't bought with jingos & buttons!
My daughter's bosses wanted everyone to wear red, white, and blue today. :wtf: is that gonna prove? She is livid at the shallowness of the 'suggestion'.

She said she has red hair, white skin, so her blue Liberty tee shirt ought to comply with their ridiculous jingoism. ;) Said she may plant her big ol flag next to her desk too. I think she is declaring her desk a free speech zone :D

7. No, freedom ISN'T free. It costs lots of tax dollars.
You know, the taxes these "freedom isn't free" button-wearers and bumpersticker boneheads hate like hell. It COSTS MONEY to maintain our democracy, with all the nice things in it that make America such a great country. NONE of that is free. You might throw that in, next time some knuckledragger wants to complain about having to pay taxes, and why the rich need yet another tax cut.

24. Yep. Love to shut the wingers up when they start in. TAXES pay for defense
and DEMS exert OVERSIGHT on how that $$ gets spent. GOP hand out no bid contract then won't exercise oversight. They DO get jobs for family and themselves though, with those companies they have been handing our cash to.

The wingers who whine about DEM taxes, I LOVE to call them on their shit of NOT SUPPORTING THE TROOPS when they weasel out of tax obligations.

15. Good for you -- you nailed it!
I have to wonder, did this fundie lady have any clue she was walking into the lion's den when she opened herself up by asking you that question?

Lady has to be nuts -- for more than one reason!

I'm gratified to see people like her flustrated and befuddled and consternated (;)) by having the f'ing TRUTH spoken right in their faces these days!

I do a fair bit of it myself, only the strangest thing is happening. I've done it for some time, and lately it seems everyone I talk to AGREES WITH ME!

Hmmm .........

:patriot: Still a patriot! :patriot:

18. I just wish
someone at work would ask me, I'd give them an earful, too. I wouldn't have said it any better than you, though, that was great! Just how I feel too.

And as for that "freedom isn't free" line....too many conservatives forget that we have to guard our freedoms from enemies within as well as the enemies outside. The things they've let our government get away with as to our rights and liberties are outrageous and I blame every one of them for allowing our freedom to be taken away. That they have the nerve to bark out "freedom isn't free" while they turn a blind eye to the crimes of our government and the shredding of our constitution is mind-blowing to me. And they call us traitors? :puke:

20. "nerve to bark out "freedom isn't free" while they turn a blind eye"
Exactly. That shit just drives me batty. And this fundie woman will talk about all the "oppressiveness" of Hussein and decry the former Soviet Union for PRAVDA and its media manipulation, then she watches Bill O'Reilly and Hannity religiously, and thinks Ann Coulter is a great thinker. You need a glass of wine after talking to her.

19. I spanked several people at my pool pretty bad yesterday.....
I asked one guy if he thought it was great that we were torturing people, imprisioning them w/out giving any reason and without an attorney and that we had children at Gitmo who were also being tortured and raped. He asked where I had had heard that and I told him that attorneys who were representing people there had reported it and also a reporter for the New York Times (Sy Hersh). I don't think he believed me - but who knows - he will store it in his memory bank and it may occur to him at a later time.

I asked another guy how he was any better than the Nazis when he talked about "blowing up all the Arabs." He also added "And they can blow up Israel also because they're part of the problem too."

Anal sex is what GAY MEN do! :scared: This is the same woman who, after I chatted up what a great movie "Brokeback Mountain" was, pulled me aside and asked me how I couldn't see the "hidden gay agenda" in that movie, which took a symbol of Americana - the cowboy - and turned him gay!
