Overnight Ratings: Football Slaughters ABC's Mockudrama
Not only did Football massacre the "Path to 9/11", CBS' real documentary
tied it.

This little rightwing temper tantrum was a total bust, folks.

FOOTBALL RATINGS DOUBLE ABC '911'

15.1 RATING/23 SHARE FOR NBC 'SUNDAY NIGHT' FOOTBALL
8.3 RATING/12 SHARE FOR ABC 'PATH TO 9-11'
8.2/12 FOR CBS '9-11' DOCUMENTARY

6. Yep - if it was a TV Series it would be cancelled
I figured the "Manning" Bowl would win the night for NBC. And tonight we have Monday Night Football. BTW, if it's like my hometown of Pittsburgh since ESPN is a cable net and not all homes have cable, the ABC affiliate in the respective teams hometowns broadcast the game - so they'll have to show Part II at another time. And BTW this year we have a doubleheader of football on Monday nights. Tonight is Minnesota/Washington for the 7PM Game and San Diego/Oakland for the 10:15PM Game EDT.

DU'ers in those cities - is your ABC affiliate picking up the ESPN game?

7. What surprises me...
...is that CBS did so well with "9|11", a film in its third network airing that is also available on DVD. Considering that this little documentary got virtually the same ratings as ABC's $40 million dollar steaming pile of bullshit says a lot of things. I wonder who's going to get fired over this.

NFL did very well, but it helps that it was the first weekend of the season, and one of the teams was in the #1 media market (NYC).

Wonder how FOX did with the season premiere of "The Simpsons"

9. CBS' 9|11 was outstanding.
They didn't have an agenda, or try to spin a story for maximum dramatic or political effect.

They just ran the footage and let it speak for itself. Horrible, terrifying, extraordinary.

Is it too much to ask for other networks to adhere to this level of integrity in their programming?

Just like every other movie. Wow, who saw that coming? With the way it was treated around here for the most part, I figured it was going to turn our precious children into zombies last night.

Although, that would've been kind of interesting to see. Oh well.

Okay, okay, it was only 'sports', but it WAS the first time two QB brothers played each other in the NFL.

Now keep Disney and ABC channels dead all the way to November.

I am a Nielsen household
Nielsen prefers that I keep a low profile, but I had to chime in and let you know that I did my part last night. Strictly football and the Discovery Channel.

I also called my local ABC affiliate and let them know that I am a Nielsen household and told them that I would never watch thier news programs. As much as it pains me, the weather girl is quite attractive.

So you know, I represent approximately 40,000 households. Also, when KO is on and I have to leave for the evening, I do not turn the TV off.

May it be downhill from there, ABC!
P.S Do you have a link?
I want to get ratings that early in the day too!

Actually, ABC did come #3 last night:

Household Rating/Share
NBC: 12.5/19, Fox: 8.0/12, ABC: 7.5/11, CBS: 7.4/11

For once, I'm OK with Fox ahead!

35. ? - Does your ABC affiliate pick up the ESPN feed
I know that last year since when ESPN had the Sunday night games since not all households have cable and it's an NFL rule that the visiting market and the home team market (if sellout) must have game on TV that our ABC affiliate would pick up any Steeler game on ESPN and broadcast the ESPN feed.

Wondering if same all across US - which is good news cause that Path to 9-11 dreck wouldn't be broadcast in D.C. or Minnesota or later in San Diego or Oakland.

40. The ABC Network is not showing it in the Twin Cities
Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 06:48 PM by CatholicEdHead
the "My Network TV" channel is (WFTC 29). It is owned by News Corp. ABC is on KSTP 5 in the Twin Cities and I guess they will have a usual broadcast schedule showing the hit piece.

Though the Vikings game may pre-empt other ABC Network stations that reach to other parts of the state (Rochester, Sioux Falls, Fargo, Grand Forks, Duluth, etc...).

19. Moreover, probably mostly just wingers watched...
You know that with the publicity this thing has received, very few right wingers would dare miss the show. In that case, ABC and the producers of this nasty little hit piece have only sung to the choir for the most part.

Really, I'd bet the biggest part of the audience was made up of nothing more than drooling Rethugs, just dying to see how their Media Masters "tore the DemonRats a new one". Hope you enjoyed it morans... evidently nobody else watched! :dunce:

38. Or a Flopudrama!
Plus they opened up a pandora's box that I hope will lead to an investigation as to whether they violated campaign laws, lawsuits by all those smeared, including Clinton, Madeleine Albright (they spelled her name wrong, btw) by American Airlines, and maybe even a class action suit by US citizens whose rights to balance on the airwaves have been totally violated.

Other consequences I hope will be that Disney stock will plummet as a result of worldwide boycotts and that their sneaky little political porn movie will lead to a change in legislation forbidding the ownership of the airwaves by huge conglomerates.

They should be made to deeply regret this insidious attempt to flood the airwaves with propaganda as an example to others in the future.

All those who funded it should be exposed and if Richard Melon Scaiffe is one of the funders, the public should be made aware of the treasonous behavior of this idiot when he promised to take out a duly elected president. To me, that is treason.

Scholastic's collaboration to indoctrinate children should not be forgotten either.
