9-11 brought out the best as well as the worst in us. The story of two office workers who carried a wheelchair bound woman down 60 flights of stairs to get out in the nick of time was very uplifting. I'm thinking that there were probably many others who did similar deeds, but we don't know about them because they didn't get out in time.
It's still heroism, even if nobody ever knows about it.
History is so full of heros like that. I like to think its worth it somehow, even thought they didn't live to appreciate the fruits of their sacrifice.
