Re: NYC air quality post-9/11; aren't residents also at risk?
Because I was never anywhere south of 14th Street in the months after 9/11 during which they were trying to put out the fires at the WTC, but I recall several things: weird blue-colored dust (probably pulverized glass) in gutters around the city; also coughing up crap in the shower.

I just wonder if that will put NYC residents at increased risk of compromised health/respiratory functioning?

2. On windy days there was these strange smelling gray/ white
flakes flying all around...
from miniscule to quite large.
Dusty, foggy, stinking air.

3. I live a block away
and the landlords down here were
pressuring the city to bring the residents
back (so they could collect rent)

They brought us all back almost a month later...
and they trotted out all sorts of
"experts" from FEMA, EPA, city, state, etc...
to say that it was absolutely positively safe.

There was air monitoring gear all over the place...
which i suspected was more for show cause I never
saw anyone actually checking it.

So we all moved back and it was awful. I was coughing
blood in about a week. Had to find another place to stay...
anyway.. I'm back.. but petrified what kind of health
problems may be in store.

I'll never believe the government again.... ever.

5. Thanks!
So far, so good. Haven't suffered any sorts of things the first responders have.
