CBS 9/11 doc: "Okay, this isn't fucking Disneyland, let'sgo"
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 10:37 PM by omega minimo
NYPD turning back French cameraman, headed toward WTC1 to look for his brother.

That probably isn't in the ABC mockumentary.

Safe together in the firehouse.
"Yesterday you had one brother, today you have fifty."

on reedit:

Filmaker: "It's The Eleventh every day for me, when I wake up."

This is a documentary, edited from raw footage. It is humanity. It is tough guy New Yawkahs up close and very, very personal. It is the opposite of a mockumentary.

Do we need to be manipulated by Disney? The level of oversaturated mediated 24/7 bullshit is so far off the charts, no one can keep up. This administration is currently in power ONLY and BECAUSE OF the Power of Television.

No matter what happens with the Disney-fied mockumentary, the Dark Side will accuse Democrats of politicizing 9/11, which of course is what THEY are doing.

SHAME. Shame.

1. I'm so glad nothing was bleeped.
I thought he said "Just go." He wasn't letting the cameraman proceed.

14. We now know what Chicago knew after the fire
And San Francisco after the earthquake

And, I hope, New Orleans soon...

We know that the survivors keep living and we just keep going on. Grief mostly doesn't kill you. And you can add burdens of fear and keep going.

And that when it matters, we help each other. When it matters, we're kind to each other. Although I admit the first time I saw a driver give the finger to my Mom on Bleecker street, I got all happy.....because we were finally back to ourselves.

It's not the worst thing to know what you'd do in a bad time.

17. What a great post. Wish I could K&R it
People pull together-- even now in our alienated, paranoid culture, people will pull together when needed.

5 years later, witnessing the strength/vulnerability of the firefighters was powerful.

Your post is so great, that notion could be an OP-- in daily life most Americans live very isolated lives....... but in times of need..........

"And that when it matters, we help each other. When it matters, we're kind to each other. Although I admit the first time I saw a driver give the finger to my Mom on Bleecker street, I got all happy.....because we were finally back to ourselves."

4. Hey, I thought you were a New yawkah!
Where I grew up in NYC, "let's go" can mean "Get the fuck outta here," as in, "Alright, let's go buddy, the fuckin' show's over, chief."

I dunno. He might have said "Just go," but "Let's go" works as well for that dialect.

7. What a remarkable coincidence that was.
And what a transformation of their original project. It still blows me away. This was the real truth to watch tonight.

9. Originally they just set out to follow around the firemen for the summer.
They never intended for their documentary on NYC firemen to turn into a 9-11 documentary. That happened by chance.

16. Sorry your post was a bit ambiguous
Their project was to show what happened with that fire house.

9/11 is what happened.

The "transformation" is called life.

Pretty amazing.

10. The cbs station in my area did not
air 9-11. Lucky me I remembered last evening the Son had the DVD and we watched it. Having watched it soon after he purchased this back years ago I saw things in there that I did not recall on my first viewing. I do not believe that all the cursing these men used took away from the documentary, but added "real life". Unlike the one christian organization said that CBS needed to cut the bad words as it would not take away from the effects. I disagree, so I suspect the group had its members call the local cbs station and they pulled it from tonights line up. Hey the Manning brothers football game was damn good...

12. Yeah, can't have people cursing when
airplanes fly into skyscrapers and thousands of people die. That would be terrible.
:sarcasm:
