Review slamming P to 9/11

Accuracy aside, ABC's '9/11' deserves to bomb
September 8, 2006
BY DOUG ELFMAN TELEVISION CRITIC

-snip-

Controversy could boost viewership, except "Path" is the dullest, worst-shot TV movie since ABC's disastrous "Ten Commandments" remake. It substitutes shaky handheld cameras and dumb dialogue for craftsmanship. It could not be more amateurish or poorly constructed unless someone had forgotten to light the sets.

An appalling secondary concern is the tone makes almost every pre-9/11 American look like a fool.

-snip-

Ground Zero is a sobering soil worthy of facts, not flimsy fiction. The victims of 9/11 deserve 2,996 times more careful and compelling filmmaking than what Nowrasteh, Cunningham and ABC have bored together. They are bearing false witness to the memory of the fallen.

-snip-

James Bamford, an author who writes about national security agencies, told MSNBC an FBI agent hired as an adviser on "Path" quit halfway through production "because he thought they were making things up."

2. I switched over to it for a few minutes and was glad to see it was
unwatchable. The dialogue sucked and I got seasick from the camera motion.

3. Great line
"It could not be more amateurish or poorly constructed unless someone had forgotten to light the sets."
I didn't watch even a nanosecond of this "film". Glad I missed it.

4. Here's a dumb question:
I'm almost embarassed to ask, but I just don't get it:

If Bill Clinton dropped the OBL ball because he was distracted by his impeachment, whose fault is that? His? Or those impeaching him? What exactly IS their point about this? If they thought he had better things to do than defend his private life, why were they impeaching him?

5. Clinton didn't drop the ball
Read this archived cnn article:
http://www.cnn.com/US/9607/30/clinton.terrorism/

The Republican Congress was so obsessed with the sex they weren't personally getting, they couldn't even find their balls to drop. When Clinton tried to get his anti-terrorism law thru congress, the repubs pooh-poohed him, with Hatch going so far as to call terrorism a "phony issue."

6. My favorite...
From the section regarding specific scenes and the reactions of those depicted:

Scene: Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and other Bush officials are shown taking no action at pivotal moments when terrorists may have been stopped.

Reaction: Bush officials have not complained to ABC.

15. gee kixel could it be that the scenes depicting the idiot and condo
doing nothing are true while the scenes depicting sandy, madelaine and clinton are made up from whole cloth...do you think that could be it huh...the blind self righteous stupidity of repugs is just mind boggling.

16. Isn't it?
They suck when they don't do anything, then when they decide to take action they show even less common sense. We are damned if they do and damned if they don't.

Idiots.

9. It's a TERRIBLE movie!
Disjointed, close shaky cam that makes it hard to tell what is going on. Jumps from scene to scene and place to place with hardly any connection. It tries to be "MTV cool" but is cheesy and amateurish.

The propaganda is rare but flagrant and movie goers are fairly sophisticated and most will see right through it. Well, except for Fox's 26%.

No kidding, it is a really, REALLY bad movie, even for a TV movie.

Even if some are watching it, many will change the channel before it's over, and the ratings will probably plunge for tomorrow night. That's how bad it is.

45 minutes into it now, and it hurts. No kidding.

10. the only diff between hitlers propaganda and the neocon
propaganda that is the path to 9/11, is that hitlers were way ahead of their time...yet i think hitler would have been proud of this sometimes subtle and sometimes blatant propaganda farce woven into the facts we all know. the subtler things like slipping in of the bombmaker...aka this and aka that and aka a person of iraq which is outrageous since there is no known connection of this person to iraq...but the totally made up scenes, lies in effect upon which the movie was based to make the clinton admin look like the keystone cops was so clear by the end of the first half of the movie that you felt you needed a bath ...i hope sandy burger, madelane albright and prez clinton bring a libel suit against these lowdown lying swiftboaters...and disney; shame on you...you and all yours will be boycotted by me and my extensive family who used to think of you as some kind of god...by these actions you have become nothing but bulge floating on top of an ocean of sewer water.

that was so poorly made?
