"American Family Assn." protests 9/11 documentary....ON CBS!!
CBS will air their program 9/11 this coming Sunday evening. The program contains much obscene language. CBS has said they absolutely will not mute the obscenities.

Rick Jordan, General Manager and Vice President of CBS affiliate WBOC-TV in Salisbury, Maryland, had this to say concerning the obscene language:

"This program contains elements which CLEARLY violate the Federal Communication Commission’s NEW indecency guidelines and policies. While this program has aired two other times on our station in past years, this program's content is now in direct violation of the FCC's recently revised and enacted indecency rules.

"WBOC is granted a license to serve the public by the FCC, and as a federally licensed television station, the station is required to adhere to the rules and regulations set forth by the Federal Communications Commission. The FCC has refused to make any exception to their new rules for stations that choose to air this show and violate these new policies. WBOC intends on complying with our requirements as public trustees by airing an alternate program."

Take Action

Do your local CBS affiliate a favor. Ask them to refuse to air 9/11, or at least, air it after 10:00pm local time. The station stands to be fined $325,000 for each indecent incident they air. Your CBS affiliate could end up paying millions of dollars in fines. I know you don't want that, and we don't want that. But we also believe that CBS should play by the rules.

Please forward this email information to your local station manager today!

To find you local station's email address, Click Here. If it is not available, you can call your local station and ask them for a valid email address.

If you think our efforts are worthy, would you please support us with a small gift? Thank you for caring enough to get involved.

Sincerely,

Donald E. Wildmon, Founder and Chairman
American Family Association

P.S. Please print this and share with others.

1. The AFA is as anti-family as it gets. This documentary shows....
the horrors of what happened that day. No other film/show can give us such a first hand account.

2. I love it. Lies, no problem. Dirty words, verboten.
Makes you wonder what is going on in their American families

3. Guess what??? Many affiliates are NOT showing it until 11:00 tonight.
They pushed it out of prime time to late night.

My affiliate didn't show it, neither did many others.

5. It was shown where I live
In southwestern Michigan. I watched most of it and failed to hear vulgarity.

18. It wasn't shown in Eastern Iowa, Jax, FL, Hannibal/Quincy (MO/IL),
Those are the ones mentioned in a Diary on Daily Kos by people waiting for it to start.

4. Just finished watching. Powerful and poignant program.
Very few swear words--and certainly in the context of the hell that was 9/11.

As said above, there is something wrong in this country when an organization protests a few four letter words, but has nothing to say about a pack of lies.

If you get a chance to see the DeNiro narrated 9/11 program, watch it.
You won't regret it.

6. It was an amazing documentary.
How incredible that the French brothers were at a company that was in lower Manhattan and in the middle of all that day filming. Just incredible. Good for CBS to show it intact. I wish it had gotten as much publicity as the ABC trash. I didn't even know it would be aired tonight until I glanced through the TV guide page after it had already begun.

9. 3000 people were killed, and they are worried about obscene language
I was using a lot of obscene language that day, as were a lot of people.

This might explain why so many Republicans were obsessed with a presidential blow job in the 90's, and dismissed concerns about terrorism as a distraction from the "real issues" of Bill Clinton's sex life and an obscure Arkansas land deal from 1978.

Do these people live in the real world?

10. AFA nutcases tried to get it banned from the Johnson City, TN
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 09:52 PM by notsodumbhillbilly
affiliate. Fortunately the general manager ignored them, and the program aired as scheduled at 8 pm.

13. I flipped between CBS and ABC for a while, but just couldn't swallow
the shit being shoved down my throat on ABC. So, I tuned to CBS and was very moved by the documentary. I did hear some forbidden words, but considering what was going on at the time, well...hey, that IS THE WAY PEOPLE TALK IN A SITUATION LIKE THAT! It's a fact.

My CBS affiliate here in Tulsa (the middle of Bible belt hell) did not delay the show, nor did they bleep the language. I am going to call them tomorrow and thank them for airing it.

And to the people who would rather ruin America with lies, instead of reveal the truth because of some naughty words, I'll quote your hero Dick Cheney:

FUCK YOURSELVES

16. So this is what people mean when they say "concern trolls".
After all, will it not be the American Family Association ITSELF which will be making the complaints to the FCC!?!

17. KPIX in San Francisco and KION in Monterey
are both airing it at 8 p.m. I plan to call or e-mail both tomorrow to thank them.

Others should do the same with their CBS affiliates that do not bow down.
