Shame on Ted Koppel.. I am disappointed in his show
here's why. We have NEVER had a shortage of the White House spin, and this show gave a perfect opportunity to air another version or what could be, what is, and why it is..

Instead we are confronted by the same blowhard oxygen thieves, blovaiting the same old shit we see every day on Slimeball, the Insinuation Room , and all the others..

If he does this again, I wish he would just let people say their piece withouir commentary from "the other side".. We already KNOW what they think... (do they really even think?..)

What we have been missing for FIVE LONG YEARS, is truth..We have been force-fed lies...now please just let some other people speak..

It is at least a more civil discussion, but the loaded words from the right are still there in abundance, and we have Lanny Davis on "our side"...(he's working with Ted Olson, for god's sake)

1. I thought that it came on at 8PST
Do you have a magic teevee?

Thanks for the heads-up, I won't bother watching unless I see something here, otherwise.

Somehow, I expected better from Koppel.

3. I think it was an attempt to be middle-of-the-road.
It certainly was nothing new. I watched it for 30 min.

4. It's replaying in PST at 9.. It aired live at 5..
It's worth watching,, I was just disappointed to see so many "plants" in the audience and panel..

Where was Zinn or Chomsky? or Donahue?? or Greenwald? or Moore?..Instead we get political-appointee hacks and a rehash of what we have seen for 5 years..

Soros was there, but Koppel does not treat him very respectfully, and introduces him as Billionaire-George Soros..

If Soros was invited, the others I mentioned at least deserved to be there too..

but we get Lanny Davis:puke:

2. Koppel has lost it
Somewhere along the line he became calcified.

I miss Peter Jennings. He would have done it right.

9. That's the same thing I thought (yelled at the tv) as I watched
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 09:36 PM by me b zola
I saw him interviewed on Charlie Rose and was impressed into thinking that this would be a good analytical program. On the Charlie rose show Kopel brought up the truth that 40,000 people a year die of auto accidents, are we willing to give up our autos in order to save lives. No where in the show were rational thoughts discussed like this.

Still, there were at least some facts that got out there, far better than watching abc.

10. He was really good on Charlie Rose last week. Talked about sacrifice.
Bushco is trying to say that the war is really important yet no one has asked Americans to sacrifice anything such as tax cuts.

and then their comments were wisped away by Bushites.

Nothing will please the die-hard here though. He should have shut out all Republicans and done just what we are criticizing ABC for. Sometimes I can't understand what people are thinking here.

16. What I'm thinking..
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 10:24 PM by SoCalDem
We have had a NON-STOP parade of these same freaks..day in and day out...FOR FIVE FREAKING YEARS.....I was just hoping for some different people.. People with real ideas, and not just a pull-string to play the same talking points, over and over..

Perhaps he will read the emails, and try it a little different next time..

Seeing all the admin people there, I could not get the picture of Saddam's "minders" out of my head..

18. Well, I ignored the usual ignoramuses
I suppose that I don't even acknowledge the existence of the administration people any more. They say the same things over and over again and appear to be unable to process logic. I was interested in what the 9/11 families members had to say and they seemed more concerned about the potential loss of liberties than mindless revenge (that you expect of RW idiots). I thought it was almost comical to juxtapose the logic of people who actually suffered with the moronic repetitions of the "usual suspects". Even a 1st grader could see the obvious irony in their idiotic statements. If only the paranoid RW fear mongering morons would allow their puny little minds to operate at 1st grade levels!

21. While Koppel has that manner that says
Edited on Mon Sep-11-06 12:32 AM by bbgrunt
"I am being very fair and balanced", he always gives more weight to government "officials". I was pretty disgusted at having to listen to the admin shills talking and talking about how great this existenial danger was.

The discussion was very unsatisfying because some great points were simply cut off and dismissed. Like the guy who made a point about the real threat from missiles pointed at us during the cold war and we didn't have to resort to the kind of strangling of process that is occurring now. Yeah, Shays, Olson, and the terminally ineloquent Ridge along with the joker from the justice dept made me want to scream.

.....and he never let Soros make his full point. And while Gorlick made some nice points--shouldn't she have pointed out how the recommendations of the commission have been all but ignored?

.....and why didn't anyone really make a strong point about how torture DOESN'T WORK? I'd really like to know the details of all the plans they have disrupted from knowledge gained from torture.

this is why I can't watch tv anymore.

uring the hostage crisis, when Nightline was born, he was a much cleverer interviewer. He's just going through the motions ..

20. they are afraid of either the liberal media lie from the right, or afraid
of being "dan rathered". kind of the same thing.

so even when they report the truth which makes the right look bad they feel the need to inject some shit in there to provide for "balance".
