Will it work again? No reason to believe otherwise. The people seem to fall for it everytime. Just like they "Swift-Boated" Kerry in the last election. You have to admit, they know how to throw mud.

Republicans are planning to spend the vast majority of their sizable financial war chest over the final 60 days of the campaign attacking Democratic House and Senate candidates over personal issues and local controversies, GOP officials said.

The National Republican Congressional Committee, which this year dispatched a half-dozen operatives to comb through tax, court and other records looking for damaging information on Democratic candidates, plans to spend more than 90 percent of its $50 million-plus advertising budget on what officials described as negative ads.

And with polls showing the Republicans' House and Senate majorities in jeopardy, party strategists said they have concluded that their best chance to prevent big Democratic gains is a television and direct-mail blitz over the next eight weeks aimed at raising enough questions about Democratic candidates that voters decide they are unacceptable choices.

"When you run in an adverse political environment, you try to localize and personalize the race as much as you can," Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) said.

1. Hey, when you have nothing but shit, I guess you start throwing it.
These bastards have NOTHING to run on beyond fear, and smearing their opponents.

2. Of course they have to go negative
The rethugs have exactly zero accomplishments to brag about. Their only strategy can be all fear, all the time.

5. that's why they've been busy politicizing key votes all year
like putting corporate handouts in bills that give troops a few dollars, so Dems would vote against them.

And its why they forced votes on things like flag burning.

6. They've already started
Some swifty type group is already running ads on GOP News (Fox) -- Lots of shots of 911 and ominous talk of how we can't trust the Dems with our security. Wish I'd have caught who the swifty type group was.

7. I hope it becomes well known...
...that the Republicans have NO PLAN, so the only thing they can do is launch partisan personal attacks, rather than discuss the way their policies have failed the American people.

8. It's amazing to me that they are so openly honest about their intentions..
In effect, they are saying, "We know we can't win any other way so we plan on spending everything we can to personally attack and to muddy the waters around our opponents." That seems to me that should be an instant disqualifier for voting for anyone?
