My e-mail to American Airlines re: PT911 **PLEASE READ!!!**
Edited on Sun Sep-10-06 02:24 AM by republicansarewhores
As an "Advantage" member, I requested a "response".

"Dear American Airlines-

A friend of mine has been given a copy of the Disney produced documentary that ABC is going to show in a couple of days. He says that the movie, which is being advertised as "exactly what happened", shows that American Airlines violated its own policies and allowed the Mohammad Atta to board one of the hijacked planes even though he was supposedly "flagged" as a risk on your computers. It concerns me very much if this is true and I don't know if I can ever in good conscience fly AA again much alone feel safe doing so, no matter how security has changed. If AA did indeed allow Atta to board despite being flagged, then AA is partially responsible for the tragedy of 9/11. Is this true, and if not, why is American Airlines allowing this information to be released in this ABC movie as being "factual"?

That must have been awful. I'm guessing you weren't on the doomed flights since you're here, but still, how close were you to the events? Did you know the AA flight crew members that perished? I hope not, as it was a horrific day and so many dedicated flight crew members died.

Back to the letters issue, though, for a moment. Since you mention it, how many letters did you get called upon and what kind of issues did they deal with? Did you sign off on all of them or did you refute some of them?

And how many after 9/11 were you called upon and what issues did they deal with? Did you sign off on all of those or did you refute some of them?

Please post a sample of the letters to which you refer.

Yeah, I just read on another board that this is indeed a part of the movie although it is just a lie.
Wouldn't that hurt the company? How can they accept that. I wonder what will happen if AA really loses big money or if it affects their image.
If I were in charge, I'd probably inform my lawyers that they will be busy the next months.

12. i don't understand
When people lie about things there is absolutely no reason to lie about. You just have to wonder.

Either the producer's of this film were so inept that they totally got the wrong airport and airplane about
this Atta story, or they knew they were wrong, and just didn't care.

What would make me want to even consider tuning into a show like this, when they can't even be bothered to
get these kinds of details correct.

14. Another example is the film blames the Washington Post for tipping off
Bin Laden that his satellite telephone communications were monitored. The article they claimed to have done that, but which in reality did not mention monitoring, appeared not in the WaPo but in the RW Moonie Washington Times. It had been publicly known and reported for years that Bin Laden used sat phones. But he apparently stopped using them due to security concerns before any newspaper reported that US intel agencies had been monitoring them. http://thinkprogress.org/2006/09/05/abc-smears-washington-post/

Cyborg Man Cheney is going to be on "Press the Meat" this morning, all it takes is an opportunity for this vampire to exploit to draw him out of his coffin (with 9/11 on Monday). Every word out of this bastard's mouth is a lie, so whatever he says, remember the truth is revealed in believing just the opposite.

Wouldn't it be a national tragedy if someone in the green room at "Press the Meat" used the microwave while he was in there? I heard they wreak havoc with pacemakers. Unless his is something out of a Bond movie, made out of some futuristic material not available to lesser mortals.

19. AMERICAblog: American Airlines slandered
Here's what the "Path to 9/11" claims American Airlines did on the morning of September 11. According to Disney/ABC, American Airlines at Boston Logan had Mohammad Atta at its ticket counter and a warning came up on the screen when he tried to check in. The AA employee called a supervisor who kind of shrugged and said, blithely, just let him through. The first employee, shocked, turned to her supervisor and said, shouldn't we search him? The American Airlines supervisor responds, nah, just hold his luggage until he boards the plane. The scene is clearly intended to make American Airlines look negligent.

Only problem? It never happened.

First off, Disney/ABC got the airport wrong. The warning for Mohammad Atta's ticket popped up in Portland, Maine, not at Boston Logan as the tv show claims (this is on page 1 of the September 11 Commission report).

Second, the security rules at the time said nothing about searching a passenger who has a "warning" pop up, they only required that the bags be held until the passenger boarded. The Disney/ABC tv show, on the other hand, clearly tries to imply that American Airlines violated the security rules in letting Atta go. This simply isn't true.

But most importantly, Disney/ABC implicated the wrong airline. And I quote the Director of the FBI:

On September 11, at 6:00 AM, Mohamed Atta and Abdul Aziz al Omari boarded a U.S. Airways flight leaving Portland, Maine en route to Boston's Logan Airport.

Something along the lines of this:

Last night, I watched "The Path to 9/11" & it showed AA actually allowing one of the hijackers onto the plane even though there was a warning that required him to be searched & prevented from boarding. Since you let this hijacker on the plane, why are you continuing to harass passengers & taking their water, lip gloss, mascara, lotion & foundation?

Sincerely

O8)

on edit: forget that tactic, here's mine:

I have been following the controversy surrounding the film "The Path to 9/11" which ABC/Disney is airing tonight & tomorrow. I have just learned that in addition to inaccuracies regarding the government's response to earlier Al Qaeda threats, the movie contains a false & incredibly defamatory scene involving American Airlines & its personnel.

Since American Airlines lost several planes & crew members during those dreadful attacks, I am outraged that ABC/Disney would chose to defame your company & those members of your crew in this manner. I have flown American Airlines since the mid-80's and am outraged at this attempt to defame crew members who died during the attacks. We can argue until the cows come home about the defamatory scenes regarding the political figures, but I am spitting nails mad at the carelessness of ABC/Disney in failing to do simple fact checking with the 9/11 Commission Report in order to avoid sullying the memory of the passengers & crew members who died that day.

Here is the link where I found the information: http://americablog.blogspot.com/2006/09/american-airlines-to-blame-for-911.html

I sincerely hope that you review this information & if it is as false as claimed, I hope that you not only pull all advertising from ABC/Disney & their affiliates, but bankrupt them as well by suing the pants off of them.

Dear Mr. (RAW):

Thank you for your email.

The Disney/ABC television program, The Path to 9/11, which began airing
