is anybody, other than me, SICK of the 'jesus camp" ad that seems to be

1. Haven't seen it. Must be specific to threads or rooms you're posting in.

There are a lot of funny ads here.

It's swell that Jesus Camps support the DU.

If I click on any ad, it's by accident.

Even though as a donor I have the option of turning the ads off, I leave them on because I find them hilarious, and I enjoy seeing what context-driven Google Ads' automachinations manage to deliver up unto a completely hostile audience.

First of all, DU needs to make money to stay here.

Secondly, the film looks interesting. As stated in the San Diego Union-Tribune, "Regardless of whether you agree with their stands, what this movement is doing – and wants to do – affects everyone" (http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/features/20060909-9999-1c09camp.html). That couldn't be more true. Even if we win back Congress and the WH, they are still a force to be reckoned with in this country and in politics.

I for one prefer to be educated and knowledgeable about those I need to work with and/or fight against. To do otherwise is, well, it's the Bush & Co. way.

Plus, the film has gotten great reviews. It's apparently not biased in either direction and very well done. The two filmmakers even happen to be Democrats.

I'll definitely see it and then make up my mind about it.

3. Oh God, there it is again, at the bottom of my screen.
I may have to stay off DU for a day or so until this passes.

I contribute, but allow the ads so DU's revenues are higher.

15. I don't think so. When they first appeared, the Admins set it up
so contributors to DU could eliminate them, but gave us the option of allowing them to remain so they could get the income. I don't think you have to take any action on the ad.

4. Have you seen the trailer?
Be afraid, be very afraid.

These are kids who are being brainwashed and trained to kill the rest of us.

5. "Jesus Camp" is like a Christian madrassa
:scared:

Seriously ... at some point, people are going to have to take a long, hard look at this kind of "education" because these children are basically being taught to overthrow our democracy.

11. My daughter and I got a good laugh out of it.
I saw the ad while I was showing her something here and I jokingly asked her if she wanted to go to Jesus Camp. She went along with the joke. Then I pulled up the site for "Army of God" jammies, which left both of us .

I don't mind it.

Just read this in our local paper tonight. I was :puke: by the end of it. And I believe in Jesus!

'Jesus Camp' documentary likely to raise hackles

By Sandi Dolbee
UNION-TRIBUNE RELIGION & ETHICS EDITOR

September 9, 2006

There is talk that a soon-to-be-released film about the mobilization of evangelical children will give Al Gore's global-warming epic a run next year for Best Documentary Oscar honors.

While “An Inconvenient Truth” delivered an environmental gut punch to its audiences, “Jesus Camp” is a gut-wrencher of another kind.

There is, for example, the boy who believes he is part of the “key generation to Jesus coming back,” the girl who dreamily intones, “I feel like we're training to be warriors – but in a much funner way,” and the star of the show, a Pentecostal children's minister, who declares that democracy, in which every person is given an equal voice, is “going to destroy us.”
