GOP wins being better campaigners or by controlling most broadcast media?
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 05:02 PM by blm
And if GOPs campaign so much better than Democrats, why did they go to all that trouble of gaining control of all those electronic voting machines?

If we REALLY want to win like GOPs then let's be honest about HOW they win, THEN be prepared to buy up media and voting machine companies.

12. another vote for "both"
and I'll add this..

By EXCLUDING any opposing opinions (unless it's in a cheeky, dismissive way), they seal the deal..

4. That's actually one of the biggest reasons the right keeps winning
as long as the left keeps saying ....

"if you don't lock step with us your stupid"

the right will have an advantage.

Middle America doesn't play well with snobish attitudes.

5. Are Americans stupid when they buy Tide or are they sold Tide everywhere
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 05:19 PM by blm
they go, from TV to every market they enter.

And the American people happened to cast more votes for Gore and Kerry. The machines and a weak Dem party infrastructure couldn't handle their wins.

7. They are stupid (Ignorant) for not paying attention
to what goes on around them.

As far as Tide goes, I don't watch soaps.

9. Look at the bush scandals versus the Clinton scandals.
Why aren't Americans concerned about the bush scandals? Most of them never made it onto the media. Last week 3 generals testified before congress against bush's torture of prisoners. That night, this didn't even get a mention on CBS news.

Is there any American who didn't hear about every spat the Clinton's had? To say nothing about that huge scandal Whitewater - which turned out to be nothing.

My vote is it's because they own the media.

10. The agenda started revealing itself with impeachment of Clinton, and
9-11 just allowed them the freedom of showing their true colors and their facade of neutrality went the way of the dinosaurs.

11. They use the media to make it look like they are much better --
-- at campaigning.

Personally, I imagine -- and I know a lot of people will disagree with me -- that both Kerry and Gore were much better at campaigning than they appeared. Dean, too. The media did everything they could to make them look bad. What's wrong with brown suits? Why was it ridiculous for Gore to care about his image?

The media criticize Dems no matter what they do. Either they don't care about their image, and that's really dumb, or they DO care about their image, and that's really ... sissy. Gee, he's so stiff, that's really awful. Or, gee, he's so uninhibited, that's really awful! Whatever Dems are, it's awful. Dukakis vs. GW Bush. Come on. How easy would it have been to make GW look ridiculous? As it was, he looked pretty ridiculous to me, but the tv folks were just drooling all over him.

It should be recognized that the media does indeed have a great deal of control over how everything is presented. They presented the "Dean scream" utterly falsely, on purpose. No matter. What they did achieved its purpose, and it seems in retrospect there was nothing wrong with doing that. Hmm? Right? If you are such a wuss that you can't make the media be nicer to you, well, gee whiz, you deserve to come off like a stupid sissy dwid.

Just like 6th grade all over again.

14. I agree - the best parts of any Dem campaign is on editting room floors
of every news network.

Watching the campaign rallies on Cspan and watching the follow up news report was like night and day.

17. I think we should find a way to get another news station.
And it seems every once in a while I see something about that. But then it vanishes.

We need a station that isn't owned and controlled. And we need a newspaper that is privately owned, a traditional old fashioned daily that can expand.

I don't see why someone wealthy enough, like Soros, could not just start up a big daily, like the Sun that started up recently. Maybe take the Observer to a daily. A real, honest-to-god, old-fashioned newspaper that prints the news on the news pages and editorializes on the editorial pages. That doesn't have any deal with the devil in DC.

16. it's control of the media that gives the GOP an advantage
Rove, through the MSM, turned an AWOL cokehead ignoramus into a war hero and a genuine war hero into a pointy head elitist snob.

That's the power of the media to control the message.
