My prediction for November
The Republicans will continue to lose gorund in the polls. By the time the election rolls around, they will have such a low approval rating that no one could possibly believe that they could win.

2 days before the election, something 'earthshaking' will happen. Republicans will sweep all the seats. And everyone will chalk it up to people being scared, or that they really do trust the Republicans, or etc. And all the Democrats will say "Just wait until next time!" and not do anything else.

1. You are just too cynical
Actually what will happen is that Bush will be assassinated by an "Iranian" and President Cheney will declare martial law and then war on Iran.

Nah, I'm not paranoid....

14. After Bush* used the Osama name 18 times in one speech...
I'd say there is a distinct possibility of the Osama Surprise.

5. Agree that the polls will continue to favor Democrats over Republicans.
But disagree that a calamitous event will change the outcome.

By midnight Nov. 7th, the U.S. House is blue once again, and possibly the Senate if we can conjure wins in Virginia and Tennessee (and maybe Nevada!)

6. I don't know about your exact scenario
but I don't see much of anything changing this November, a seat here or there perhaps, just enough to make it look good or ones where the race is beyond hopeless for the Republican Party. I hope for something different just don't think it will happen.

7. I see a net gain of 20 House seats and 3 Senate seats at this time.
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 02:35 PM by AX10
27 Governorships too.

I'd like to take back both houses and have a much larger margin in the House. We won't be able to do much in terms of countering Bush with 223 seats. The conservative Dems will not cooperate.
We need a net gain of 25-30 seats to govern. I'd like to see 35-40, but election fraud and gerrymandering make that unlikely.

As of today, the 110th Congress would appear as such:

House: 223D/212R
Senate: 48D(including Bernie Sanders I-VT)/52R

-----------------------
Governorships: 27D/23R

I do believe that if we work hard enough that we can get larger margins accross the board.
Such as:
House: 235D/200R
Senate: 52D(including Bernie Sanders I-VT)/48R
Governorships: 31D/19R

12. That's not gonna
happen. Why would it?

It's not gonna happen after November, either. Even if the Dems take both Houses, an unlikely scenario. Why? Ya thin maybe that in 6 years Bushco hasn't got the goods on a number of Dem legislators? They're as stupid and incompetent as we think them if they didn't.

9. Repugs are toast
I disagree. People are fed up with the Bush administration. It will only get worse for the Repugs. I think most people have made up their minds. It's time to fire the bums.

10. I think two days before the election
is too close to it - depending on what the earthshaking event is - my guess mid to late October "they" will capture Osama - probably have him holed up somewhere as I type....

16. We start Early Voting on Oct. 18th in TN. Almost 2/3 vote early
In Tennessee we have Early Voting which starts on October 18th and runs through November 2nd.

Anyone can vote early and most voters do vote early. I expect it will be 65% - 75% will vote early this time. Especially after the long lines in our August Primary election.

11. All we have is what we already know. And from what we know, we know how
what we thought would happen....didn't.

We thought Gore won.
We thought the Bush administation was asleep in the months before 911, and that it mattered he was asleep,
and he would pay for being asleep.
We thought Jeff/James would be a big story.
We thought Valerie would be vindicated and top brass would pay.
We thought Kerry won.
We thought Dan was on to something, and he lost his job instead.
We thought Fitzmas was coming down the chimmeny.
We thought Lieberman was on our side.
We thought again, Valerie would be vindicated.
We thought that violating the constituion was grounds for impeachment.
We thought that the media was the watchdog 5th estate, and would expose injustice.
We thought that the 2000 version of Woodward and Bernstein was just around the corner...somewhere...right?
We thought that Rove was going to be carted off in a paddy wagon.
We thought that voters could see right through the culture of fear coming from the WH.

Ha.

15. Problem is you already have been shot in the head, you just don't feel it.
Until I experience first hand, some meaningful justice, I will continue to be a skeptic.

20. I actually think we'll win the House.
But only by a few seats. Bush's agenda will be slowed but since we didn't win the Senate, it won't be stopped or turned around.

If the Dems never won again, people would get awful suspicious. I don't think the big cheating/outcome influencing guns will be brought out this year -- it just won't matter too much.

21. Let's just say we get 225 house seats.
That means there will be no more tax cuts for the wealthiest and Social Security is 100% safe.
