~snip~

CBS : "A free broadcast network, available to all over the public airwaves, has different standards than media the public must pay to view," CBS said in a statement. "We do, however, recognize and respect the filmmakers' right to have their voice heard and their film seen."

A republican congressman: '"This reminds us all that the American people have a strong voice in deciding what is fair and appropriate," said U.S. Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va.

And Where's Brent today???? Brent Bozell, founder of the Media Research Center, scoffed at the notion that CBS was stifling free speech.
"There is no such thing as creative license to invent falsehoods about people," Bozell said. "I don't care who you are. You don't have that right."
"CBS invented things out of whole cloth, which defamed the man," Bozell said.
Again Where's Mr. Bozell Today???

In a portion of the script published in The New York Times last month, Reagan was depicted as uncaring and judgmental toward people with AIDS. "They that live in sin shall die in sin," Reagan's character tells his wife as she begs him to help AIDS victims.

This was NOT about people dying, it was about Ronnie's IMAGE.

2. Weren't the Reagan errors minor?
I may be wrong, but wasn't the right screaming about Reagan not saying or doing something exactly as protrayed in the movie? I seem to remember them arguing about a phrase that he did not say ver batum as in the movie, but still caught the essence of what he did say. Basically paraphrasing for effect.

3. Reagan was shown sobbing in Nancy's lap crying about deceiving
...America, and that the devil was in his soul, or something like that. Very minor bit.

What the right wing did not want the public to see, were the countless incidents of deception and covert military operations and illegal activities that the Reagan administration committed during all of the eight years Ronnie and Nancy were in the white house. The film accurately showed much of those activities which have in perspective been proven to be true. That effort by the wing nuts was total censorship.

4. a critical difference between that movie and Path to 9-11
The Reagan movie wasn't purported to be based on an official commission report and advertised (as it's being in Europe) as the truth about what happened.

It also wasn't going to be run as a freebie or public service by CBS, as far as I know--there were going to be commercials.

6. Thanks! Mr. Bozell seems to have lost his zeal for outrage!
