ABC Edits Reflect That "Not Any One Individual" Left America Vulnerable
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 10:59 AM by Rose Siding
The (Washington Post) quoted one unidentified ABC executive as saying changes were "intended to make clearer that it was general indecisiveness" by federal officials that left America vulnerable to attacks, "not any one individual."

Not any one individual? Oh.

CRAWFORD, Tex., April 10 -- President Bush was in an expansive mood on Aug. 7, 2001, when he ran into reporters while playing golf at the Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Tex.

The day before, the president had received an intelligence briefing -- the contents of which were declassified by the White House Saturday night -- warning "Bin Ladin Determined To Strike in US." But Bush seemed carefree as he spoke about the books he was reading, the work he was doing on his nearby ranch, his love of hot-weather jogging, his golf game and his 55th birthday.

...The Bush administration now had in its hands what one participant called "the holy grail" of a three-year quest by the U.S. government – a tool that could kill bin Laden within minutes of finding him. The CIA planned and practiced the operation. But for the next three months, before the catastrophe of Sept. 11, President Bush and his advisers held back.

Clarke further stated that "President Bush was regularly told by the director of Central Intelligence that there was an urgent threat...He was told this dozens of times in the morning briefings that George Tenet gave him."
.....
President Bush himself admitted that, when it came to the threat of terrorism, before September 11, 2001, "I didn't feel a sense of urgency." (Bush at War, Bob Woodward, 2002).

Vice President Dick Cheney took time off from his month-long working vacation Monday to outline his plans for August in Jackson Hole and to reflect on "an amazing year.....
Cheney said he's going to spend time with family and expects a visit by each of his daughters. He plans to visit siblings in Casper and keep things casual.
"It's quiet, relaxed," he said of his time in the valley. "It's an opportunity to see friends. This is the only time I'll wear a tie," he said just prior to a ceremony to name the federal courthouse in Jackson after valley resident and former U.S. Sen. Cliff Hansen.

...The White House has confirmed that, on August 6, 2001, President Bush's Presidential Daily Briefing (PDB) specifically focused on al Qaeda's intent to attack the United States, and specifically warned that airplane hijackings could be involved. According to press reports, the PDB included a fresh report from British intelligence warning that al Qaeda was planning multiple hijackings.

4. Why are you making sense?
Rational thoughts that make complete sense are confusing me now. I'm used to the media.

3. Right.
"intended to make clearer that it was general indecisiveness" by federal officials that left America vulnerable to attacks, "not any one individual."

They just couldn't support it with facts.
They had to make them up.
