Put Down Path to 9/11 for a Moment: Confirmed: BUSH CAUGHT IN IMPEACHABLE
Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 10:21 AM by The Cleaner
LIE!!

People this is HUGE, bigger than we think. This is impeachable to a MAJOR degree. It is now PROVEN that Bush led us into war knowing the intelligence was FALSE and BOGUS.

Worse, to THIS DAY, he continues to LIE to Congress and the American people!!

This is impeachable, and folks, it doesn't get any more transparent than this.

FYI: Take note of the third paragraph. It screams out "Chalabi." I didn't know this, but some analysts warned that the INC had been infiltrated by Iranian and possibly other hostile agents, which makes sense. Regardless of the obvious threat, the White House STILL went forward and continued funding the INC, who produced Chalabi, who provided false information on Iraq's nuclear/WMD capabilities.

A declassified report released yesterday by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence revealed that U.S. intelligence analysts were strongly disputing the alleged links between Saddam Hussein and al-Qaeda while senior Bush administration officials were publicly asserting those links to justify invading Iraq.

Far from aligning himself with al-Qaeda and Jordanian terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Hussein repeatedly rebuffed al-Qaeda's overtures and tried to capture Zarqawi, the report said. Tariq Aziz, the detained former deputy prime minister, has told the FBI that Hussein "only expressed negative sentiments about bin Laden."

A Senate report on prewar intelligence found no evidence of ties between al-Qaeda and former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein...The report also said exiles from the Iraqi National Congress (INC) tried to influence U.S. policy by providing, through defectors, false information on Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons capabilities. After skeptical analysts warned that the group had been penetrated by hostile intelligence services, including Iran's, a 2002 White House directive ordered that U.S. funding for the INC be continued...

As recently as Aug. 21, Bush suggested a link between Hussein and Zarqawi, the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, who was killed by U.S. forces this summer. But a CIA assessment in October 2005 concluded that Hussein's government "did not have a relationship, harbor, or turn a blind eye toward Zarqawi and his associates," according to the report.

Edited on Sat Sep-09-06 03:18 PM by Justice Is Comin
The first two that have finally been released only reveal what the intelligence showed.

The last three show how the intelligence was used by bush and whether it was manipulated.

Roberts knows exactly what it will show and he's scared to death. That's why he's been trying every way he knows how to stall and delay it.

72. Report on prewar use of intelligence faces further delay
Thanks for the heads-up on this, Justice. I had totally missed this crucial point. I had been wondering why Whitewash Roberts had finally caved on this, and frankly was surprised that the released information didn't contain more. You inspired me to take a closer look and now I understand.

Members of a Senate committee say the study will not be released before the election.
Thu, Sep. 07, 2006

WASHINGTON | A Senate analysis comparing the administration’s public statements about the threat posed by Saddam Hussein with the evidence that officials reviewed in private remains mired in partisan recrimination.

It will not be released before the November elections, key senators said Wednesday.

<snip>

After nearly three years, the heart of the report remains incomplete. The Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, Sen. Pat Roberts, a Kansas Republican, said that Democrats produced 511 administration statements to be analyzed, a virtually impossible task. At this point, the section is 800 pages long, accompanied by 40,000 documents, and is nowhere near ready for release, he said.

But with midterm elections just two months away, two of five chapters are about to be released. The first examines what, if any, information provided by Iraqi exiles was used in official intelligence estimates. The second compares prewar estimates on Iraq’s alleged chemical, biological and nuclear programs with the findings of U.S. weapons hunters who wrapped up their work empty-handed in December 2004.

Karl Rove wanted a War President, because "WAR IS GOOD FOR GOP POLITICS!"

Edit...They impeached Clinton for lying about sex! We need to raise holy hell with congress, until they Impeach Bush and Cheney both, for lying to start a war in which THOUSANDS have died and the country has spent 300 billion dollars on. Either Bush/Cheney knew they were lying and I believe they did know, or they were far too inept to run the country's affairs.

with many more equally incriminating ones already consigned to the dustbin of history. I (and many other crusty old vets of DU) have come to the realization that you could have a signed confession by Dubya and nothing would happen--without the political will and without a House majority.

Keep a file--I am--for when the charges go down. Junior may not be impeached, but he will be held accountable.

---- If they do not apply Constitutional and other legal accountability to the GOP and PNAC principles in this fabricated "rush to war," then we have a bigger problem than just having Bush in the White House. We'll have a ruling political class which is disconnected from the chartering document of this republic.

"The Committee for the Liberation of Iraq was the quintessential modern front group, built on a diverse membership, international connections, a broad and unifying statement of purpose, and internal disciplines. Scheunemann, CLI's executive director, was like Jackson a board member of the U.S. Committee on NATO; and he was at the core of the early efforts in Congress and within the Republican Party to support the Iraqi National Congress (INC). Almed Chalabi, INC's chieftain, was a wealthy Iraqi expatriate who gained favor with neocons and hawks during the 1990s but was distrusted by the State Department and the CIA. In his position as national security adviser to Senator Trent Lott, Scheunemann had drafted numerous legislative bills shaping Washington's Iraq policy. One of these bills, the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998, authorized $98 million to the INC – funds that were never fully disbursed by the Clinton administration, partly because of serious infighting within the INC."

It is important to use the correct language. The stupid excuse that the Regime and their pundits use for tapping without warrents is that it takes too long. They never mention that taps can occur for a period of three days before a Warrent must be obtained.

Busholini knowingly violated the FISA Law at least thrity times, thus violated the US Constitution. Lying when not under oath is not a crime. Violating the FISA Law is a Felony.

Also, "Sky Discovered to be Blue".

Seriously, this should be major news, but until the Dems take the House, this just gets thrown on the stack with all of the other impeachable offenses these thugs have committed and waren't being held accountable for.

Although I WOULD like to see the media report the fact that any of these criminal acts ARE certainly impeachable.

48. As recently as August 21, huh? Read this:
This is what the Grand Bushboi had to say last Monday:

REPORTER: A lot of the consequences you mentioned for pulling out seem like maybe they never would have been there if we hadn't gone in. How do you square all of that?

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: I square it, because -- imagine a world in which you had Saddam Hussein who had the capacity to make a weapon of mass destruction, who was paying suiciders to kill innocent life, who would -- who had relations with Zarqawi. Imagine what the world would be like with him in power. The idea is to try to help change the Middle East.

Now, look, I didn’t -- part of the reason we went into Iraq was -- the main reason we went into Iraq at the time was we thought he had weapons of mass destruction. It turns out he didn't, but he had the capacity to make weapons of mass destruction. But I also talked about the human suffering in Iraq, and I also talked the need to advance a freedom agenda. And so my question -- my answer to your question is, is that -- imagine a world in which Saddam Hussein was there, stirring up even more trouble in a part of the world that had so much resentment and so much hatred that people came and killed 3,000 of our citizens.

You know, I've heard this theory about, you know, everything was just fine until we arrived, and then, you know, kind of that we're going to stir up the hornet's nest theory. It just -- just doesn't hold water, as far as I'm concerned. The terrorists attacked us and killed 3,000 of our citizens before we started the freedom agenda in the Middle East.

REPORTER: What did Iraq have to do with that?

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: What did Iraq have to do with what?

REPORTER: The attack on the World Trade Center?

PRESIDENT GEORGE W. BUSH: Nothing, except for it's part of -- and nobody has ever suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the attack. Iraq was a -- Iraq -- the lesson of September the 11th is, take threats before they fully materialize, Ken. Nobody has ever suggested that the attacks of September the 11th were ordered by Iraq.
For the freeper out there who can't believe Bush said these words, watch the video here (it's about 8-10 minutes into this segment): http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=06/09/08/1349253

So the Holy Chimpster admits, contrary to the droning repitition of deluded freepers who still insist the WMD have been found, that "...we thought he had weapons of mass destruction. It turns out he didn't, but he had the capacity to make weapons of mass destruction." And what did Iraq have to do with 9-11? "Nothing, except for it's part of -- and nobody has ever suggested in this administration that Saddam Hussein ordered the attack".

O wonderful, we went to war because, as Bush says in the first paragraph, he f*cking IMAGINED! an Iraq so evil and bent on the destruction of the United States that he had to bomb the innocent and imagined-guilty alike, and put our soldiers in harms way. This man should not be locked up in jail for war crimes, but be given a bed in an institution for the criminally insane!

right now in ALL MEDIA I've noticed. It is really being overdone, they must be worried about this.

54. Where have you been?

Put Down Path to 9/11 for a Moment: Confirmed: BUSH CAUGHT IN IMPEACHABLE LIE

Where have you been? The lies were willful and deliberate. That was proved a long time ago,

The leaking of a British memo last spring showed he personally knew that the case for war against Saddam was weak, and that he said as much to Prime Minster Blair. The first Downing Street memo showed that this was common knowledge in the junta.

If you were paying attention to the run up to the war, you would have noticed that no one in the junta ever said that Saddam had anything to do with the September 11 attacks -- while never missing an opportunity to say "Saddam" and "September 11" in the same sentence. That can't be a coincidence. That language was very carefully crafted to mislead.

Doug Feith was in the Pentagon's Office of Special Plans editing DIA reports so that what was ambiguous would sound certain; Dick Cheney and Scooter Libby made many trips to Langley to pressure CIA analysts into saying what they wanted the public to believe. In this way, the intelligence community became the fall guy for fabricated "intelligence failures".

Consequently, when any policymaker in the junta said he "knew" Saddam had a biochemical arsenal, he was lying. He knew nothing of the sort. The intelligence was actually ambiguous and uncertain and that policymaker knew that.

It is clear to me that Bush wanted a war. If he wanted to avoid one, he would have allowed the UN inspectors to finish their jobs, give Iraq a clean bill of health and taken credit for getting Saddam to allow the inspectors in with his saber-rattling. It would have been difficult to argue against that talking point. By avoiding war, Bush would have come out smelling like a rose.

The policymakers continued to act like liars after the event. Richard Armitage's "confession" did not erase Dick Cheney's hand written notes on his copy of The New York Times. As soon as Wilson came forward with what he knew, the went out to destroy him and his wife personally. There was no serious attempt to refute his story. They knew he was right. Moreover, Wilson did not destroy the entire junta web of lies with his story, only one small part of it. If the only thing wrong with the junta's case for war against Saddam was that sixteen words that didn't belong there slipped into the 2003 SOTU address, no one would have noticed; it would have bee written off as human error. For crying out loud, I would have been gracious enough to write that off as human error.

But the Saddam-shopping-for-yellowcake story wasn't the only thing wrong their case for war; in fact, they got nothing right. That's more remarkable than getting everything right. How did that happen? What Wilson did that scared the crap out of Dick Cheney and the rest of the liars was not show that they should have known that there was no deal by Niger to sell yellowcake to Saddam, but to point to their modus operandi in making their case for war: they took any forged document (like the Nigher document), any rumor, any testimony form any source, no matter how unreliable (like Hardball) and presented it as an established fact.

64. Thank you
I was going to mention the DSM if no one else did. Those documents were the first undeniable evidence we had of Bush**'s prolific and deadly lies. Grounds for impeachment and indictment don't get better than what the DSM provided.

Yet the response amounted to diddly-squat. Nothing works in this government if it doesn't work for the benefit of the Republicans.

Bush** caught in another lie? Might as well say the sun will rise tomorrow.

62. The AUMF for Iraq at least needs to be withdrawn
That authorization for use of military force is in violation of the War Powers resolution of 1973, which requires "clear" (read truthful) "situations" and "circumstances" in order to put US troops in harm's way. Rightwingnut fantasy scenarios don't cut it.

67. When I saw that Congressman Conyers
was holding a Hearing on the Downing Street Minutes, with sworn witnesses like Joesph Wilson, Ray McGovern, and others I begged for funding from my fellow DU'rs so I could fly from Hawaii to Washington DC and FILM this event (many generous Du'rs were kind enough to assist me, and for that I thank them profusely), as NO MEDIA were going to cover it. By the Time I got there, along the way I was hearing that CSPAN 3 MIGHT be covering this HISTORICAL (IMHO) event - by the time I got there the room was FILLED with Media from all over the world, and all the big boys here in the USA..

Like we did here at the DU we KNEW THIS was the magic bullet, that THIS was what I considered to be a NIXON moment for Bush and CO, with all these monsters falling like Dominoes, finally being caught in LIES and being held accountable. I figured that like the NIXXON scene it would start somewhere, and with a low rumble and build and build, and WE would have footage of this historic Moment (after all the other lies, thought THIS was IT)..

Well, thanks to that I got interested in researching the Plame scene, and spent a year doing that (made a film of that too), and from what I learned, the BUSH CO was in DEEP SHIT.

NOW, I've made a Fitzmas flash, and posted it here about three times (and firedoglake, Buzzflash, etc picked up on it for their sites), SINCE then, and nothing has happened.

I WISH I could get excited, but this is now Bush's Willy WOnka Land, and the OomphaLoompha Press is ALWAYS at minimum LOOKING THE OTHER WAY. He started a 'war' on LIES and Faked Intel, and WHO benefitted? Everyone but Honest, hardworking people - ABC in particular Benefitted as did all the Media, they won't kill the Goose that lays their Golden Eggs. Nixon was brought DOWN by the Press, Vietnam was ended BY THE PRESS.

If the Press won't do it's job, and is being PAID in favors and ratings then it won't happen. I'm still waiting and still fighting and hoping tho, of course our site Takebackthemedia.com figured all this out in 2000, and I'm STILL Waiting, so don't hold your breath..

BUT tonight I realized something about ABC and Disney.. remember DIRECTLY after 911 when Bush gave a Speech URGING PEOPLE to GO TO DISNEYLAND? "The Desks are FLYING out of here~!" (Direct QUOTE) Now that seemed very odd to me, they'd just bailed out the airlines, understandably, no one wanted to travel on them, BUT DISNEYLAND? Why?

BECAUSE they have been in Cahoots for a LONG TIME and NOW I see it - this Path to 911 makes all the sense in the world now, it's PAYBACK for giving them a lovely war while they looked the other way, and a free commercial for DISNEYLAND. Bizarre, isn't it?

Good post, thanks!

The deal was made long ago before the Iraq War.

So, if anyone here can trace money laundering back to Bush; you gotem!
