Lieberman Defends 1998 Rebuke of Clinton

By JOHN CHRISTOFFERSEN, Associated Press Writer

Friday, September 8, 2006

(09-08) 17:10 PDT Stratford, Conn. (AP) --

Sen. Joe Lieberman defended his reprimand of former President Clinton
for his involvement with a White House intern, dismissing rival Ned
Lamont's claim that he turned the 1998 rebuke into a spectacle.

"It was important for someone who was a Democrat to stand up and call
on him publicly to accept more responsibility for what he had done,"
Lieberman said Friday. "In that case, I stood up and did what I
believed was right for our country."

The senator said his personal dismay evolved into "a larger, graver sense
of loss for our country, a reckoning of the damage that the president's
conduct has done to the proud legacy of his presidency."

Lamont, who defeated Lieberman in the Democratic primary Aug. 8,
criticized the incumbent in an interview with The New York Times.

So where's that sense of loss when the a president's lies lead
a war that has cost lives of 2,666 U.S. service members so far?

2. Well Joe, you just collected a lot more votes for Ned!
I, as opposed to a lot of people here on DU, prefer a little give & take in our Congressmen. Think about what is really the best for the Countryin total, and vote accordingly. It sure seems to me that Joewasn't a co-operative Senator, he has been a turn coat all along, and it is becoming more evidentevery day, and every time he opens his mouth!

Thisrestatement today is just one more nail in his Repuke coffin!

4. Censure Clinton But Not Bush?
The fact that Lieberman refused to censure Bush for warrantless wiretapping, a direct and obvious violation of our Constitution, shows that either he's lying re: Clinton censure, or he's an idiot. Or both.

5. "In that case, I stood up and did what I believed...
was right for our country."

Oh no, Joe... if you were really interested in doing what is "right for our country" you would accept the dictates of your party primary and step aside NOW!!! A$$hole! :puke:
