An important point about ABC's 'Disclaimer' for Path to 9/11

ABC's statement
ABC, in a statement, said: "'The Path to 9/11' is not a documentary of the events leading to 9/11. It is a dramatization, drawn from a variety of sources including the 9/11 Commission Report, other published materials, and personal interviews. As such, for dramatic and narrative purposes, the movie contains fictionalized scenes, composite and representative characters and dialogue, and time compression. No one has seen the final version of the film, because the editing process is not yet complete, so criticisms of film specifics are premature and irresponsible. The attacks of 9/11 were a pivotal moment in our history, and it is fitting that the debate about the events related to the attacks continue. However, we hope viewers will watch the entire broadcast of the finished film before forming an opinion about it."


Of the above statement, I find this sentence to be especially troublesome:

"The attacks of 9/11 were a pivotal moment in our history, and it is fitting that the debate about the EVENTS related to the attacks continue."


The statement above sums up the entire problem of the mass media's coverage of news for the past five years. There is NO debate about what critics are saying. Experts, including Richard Clark, antiterrorism advisor to both Bush I & II, & Bill Clinton, 9/11 commissioners, the 9/11 report and the people who are depicted in the scenes drawing the outcry have PROVEN that the content is not true. ABC, itself, & the PRODUCER says events are fictionalized. NO ONE IS DEBATING THE EVENTS OF 9/11 as depicted in the film. The aren't true. What is being 'debated' is the ethics of showing a PHONEY film about one of the most tragic events in the nation's entire history....What is being 'debated' is the appropriateness of showing a film produced by a avowed conservative falsely depicting events leading to 9/11 six weeks before national mid-term elections.....

It is the crux of it, isn't it? Trying to spin the admitted truth into a 'debate'....It is where myth begins to become reality...and reality is lost in fiction. And, I say we do not let this important point go unnoticed. Please pass this along, post on your own blogs, and write ABC. I am going to e-mail to the DNC.

1. One thing I just considered....

Instead of simply proclaiming that we have "the truth," I wonder if we might evaluate this statement and reconsider.
One problem we have complained about is the lack of public attention and outcry related to 9\11, the sham of a commission, and considerable inconsistencies, among other things.
I would suggest that it is possible that raising these issues in a public forum in mass media increases the outrage and therefore liklihood that some other individuals who have more knowledge will get involved and dispell misinformation. Sometimes it takes a catalyst.

2. Are you suggesting that good can come from evil? Using lies and fantasy

...is not a way to get to the truth, sorry. This production is just another step in covering up what really happened.

Hopefully, this tactic will backfire on them BIGTIME! It is about time that their fear-mongering strategies bite them in the ass.

4. So will they air "9-11: Press For Truth" to make this a "debate"?

It seems that if they are truly trying to have a "debate" and not spoonfed propaganda, that they need to afford the other side similar air time to present "their side". How is what they are showing a "debate"? Just saying it's a "debate" is more part of the propaganda! Sheesh!

5. Everything associated with the right wing is propaganda: truth as enemy

Instead of the good old saw....
