Poll question: Did Armitage Fall On His Sword?
Richard Armitage recently took the blame for disclosing Valerie Plame's identity to Robert Novak. End of story, crisis averted, case closed. Or is it? Who thinks Armitage is being a good little soldier -- kinda like Frankie Pentangeli in The Godfather?

1. The whole thing contradicts itself...
First off, Novak wouldn't have run the story without one other source...

2nd, the original leak is only part of the issue, there's a lot more to the story that Armitage's self-sacrifice hopes to cover up:

7. Another link (DU) Armitage leaked, Rove leakd, Libby leaked
so all this BS about how Armitage's admitting it changing everything is just that BS. The whole thing was clearly run out of the VP's office.

3. It hardly matters . . .
Fitzgerald had stalled out anyway. And Armitage being the leaker-of-record doesn't alter the fact that the administration embarked on a campaign to demolish the career of the civil servant who was managing intelligence regarding Iraqi WMD -- precisely because the truth might have prevented their preemptive war plans.

4. Actually
Mr. Fitzgerald has hearings on CIPA issues scheduled for 9-25 (to "continue everyday thereafter until completed") and on 10-10. His work is on-going, and in no sense "stalled out."

8. I hope you're right, but . . .
in terms of bringing charges against the officials who wrecked the WMD/proliferation office run by Ms. Plame (by means legal and otherwise), I don't think Fitzgerald is a factor.

5. Yes....I think he did...
Because he's the only one that would not be prosecuted....mostly because the press loves him...
