A another self-described "simple-minded" Christian just called WJ CSPAN
Edited on Fri Sep-08-06 08:01 AM by Skidmore
to let us all know she's scared of terraists, love *, and we need to support Israel because they are God's chosen in so many words. She said "i'm simple-minded" and she watches CSPAN 24-7.

5. Well, thank you very much...
I appreciate your generalization. As a Christian, I guess my ignorance only harms the world.

14. My apologies on behalf of many of us at DU
I know we are all aware that the majority of Christians are not fundamentalist lemmings, ignorantly following the dogma of rapture which was pieced together by some 19th century minister out of the ravings of a hermit who ate too many mushrooms (and with a a political agenda to boot).

So assuming that you are not the kind of "Christian" who thinks the path to peace is killing for Jesus' sake, I offer my apologies.

Unfortunately the Christian right has bastardized the name and reputation of Christianity (not that the Crusades, WWII, etc. left that reputation unscathed).

One DUer has a tag line from Gandhi: Like your Christ, Do not like your Christians, They are so much unlike your Christ.

19. Gandhi's quote just about sums up my view of the Corporate Christians...
I fully understand the ire and must agree that much of the derision is well deserved. However, lumping all Christians into the same basket is like lumping all Americans together and hating us for our President. It's a tough line to walk and I have to remember the reason for the ad hominem attacks and try to not find fault with those who lash out in anger.

9. Reminds me of the -simplification- in..
.. A Canticle for Liebowitz.

Attack and blame the intellectuals....

All that's left are ignorant simpletons...

History is dead.

10. Uh. yes.
I'm a Christian and FAR from simple-minded.

In fact, I am intelligent enough not to make broad-brushed statements about whole groups of people on message boards.

11. Yes.
There are quite a few of them here on DU. :hi:

Most, if not all, are rather complex people.

Don't forget that Jesus was a rabble-rousing, anti-establishment, radical, liberal socialist. ;)

7. Maybe God's plan for her life is to have her be blown up by a terrorist
Why is she fighting God's plan, if He's in control, she doesn't need to fear a thing, right? Or did I miss a day in Sunday School?

18. She's not a fucking Christian. She's a whore for a man called Bush.
If she really listened to Jesus, she probably would have learned Jesus never advocated war as a way to solve problems. I'm no longer a Christian in that I believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ, but as a Deist, all I can say is if you're going to state you're a follower of Jesus Christ, then at least listen to his fucking lessons.
