ABC is Frantically Recutting it's Miniseries amid pressure?
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/450619p-379111c.html

ABC is frantically recutting its $40 million miniseries about 9/11 amid a blistering backlash over fictional scenes that lay the blame on the Clinton administration.
Also feeling the heat was Scholastic, which yanked a classroom guide tie-in to the program.

Former New Jersey Gov. Thomas Kean, the former head of the 9/11 commission and a paid consultant on the ABC miniseries, told the Daily News yesterday that some controversial scenes in "The Path to 9/11" were being removed or changed.

"ABC is telling me that the final version I'll be pleased with," said Kean, softening his own previous defense of the movie.

-------------

they're comparing it to the reagan movie made a few years back that pissed off the republicans.

1. Problem is Rush is duping a zillion copies of the "Real" movie
Edited on Fri Sep-08-06 04:10 AM by wakeme2008
:grr:

OK I do not have any hard evidence Rush is doing that, but one of the wack jobs that have the pre-release will you can bet on it.

13. Yeah - but no one will see it except those who already drank
the Bush kool-aid. The "real" version won't be broadcast into the homes of 10 million unsuspecting viewers.

The only people who'll order the "real" tripe are those who listen to Rush and think he is a "real" newsman, anyway.

4. Good luck with that ABC
it's not all that easy to do callbacks, recreate sets that may have been dismantled, etc.. once you have a storyline and start chopping it to pieces you can end up with a lot of disjointed crap..

Movies are like sweaters, you start pulling on the threads or yarn and you have no sleeves in short order :)

I figure they're just going to CHOP a lot out and NOT mention some of what President Clinton did, rather than misrepresent him, and rememeber, they spent upwards of 40 million on this, hard to walk away from that.. then again, paying for slander, defamation, etc AND major boycotts of HERR MAUS, lawsuits by Stockholders could break their backs.

I still think they'll run it, just hack it to pieces so it makes no sense.. remember, they HAVE to glorify Little Boots or there's no reason to make it - if it's 4 hours long instead of 5 no problem.

GO BC!!

20. Very expensive FU by the arrogant pinheads.
I've been wondering how they could re-write and re-shoot a bunch of scenes in a couple of days. People who enjoy watching for inconsistencies will have a field day.

You're right, they will have a chopped up mess.

They would be better off cutting their losses and just saying good-bye to their 40 mill. Sort of a "cut and run" deal. :P

7. we'll see.
i think plenty of clinton bashing is going to come through.

it is absolutely VITAL to the republick party long term interests that they control the history of the clinton years.
and the history of the ''war on terror''.

i'm not convinced at all with this seeming capitulation.

8. Same here........
I refuse to watch it but I'll be awaiting the reviews. I'm willing to bet that there will still be an enormous amount of, "it's all Clinton's fault" and the little giggling murder monkey that ignored every pre-9/11 warning will get away relatively unscathed. Call it a hunch.

then you must control the version of events{especially the clinton years} that gets to the citizens minds.

it is absolutely vital to their long term goal.

They assured him that the bulk of the blame would still be dumped in Clinton's lap.

12. Nice quote...
"ABC is telling me that the final version I'll be pleased with," said Kean, softening his own previous defense of the movie.

Why should anyone care what you are "pleased" with. You've already proved your mettle by presiding over one of the great scrub jobs of recent history. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Oh that's right. That's impossible. You're a Republican.

21. I think that's what they had in mind.....
But the hints of legal action imho, is making them rethink this. Remember one thing, the most mortifying words for any republican is "UNDER OATH".

It's something about swearing (under penalty) to tell the truth that makes cold sweat emanate from every pore of their being.

it needs to be flushed down the toilet, or put out to pasture and used as the manure that it is.
