1. it must vary from place to place ... I suggest picking a locale and
researching its permit requirements.

2. You stand on a public sidewalk and stay out of people's way

you don't need any permits. It's not Berlin 1937 around here yet. Even bush would defend your right to do that.

reason to bust you (they will try everything they can to bust you) stay off their property, don't cause any trouble & they can't do a anything to you. Holding a sign on a street corner is considered the sacred right of every American citizen.

5. I can't do it alone...their security team scares me.
Most (if not all) are right wingers :scared: I've met maybe three cool people on their security team.

We may be safer picketing the ABC stations and affiliates... Though I doubt it would give Disney any better pr to through our asses in jail. ;)

6. They wouldn't dare bother you. They know that they would be
slapped with a federal civil rights law suit within hours. This kind of thing isn't for the faint of heart, you really have to have a thick skin or be passionate about your cause to do it. Look at Cindy.

7. Cindy is an amazing woman. I'm not concerned for myself...

...I don't want to get anyone else put in a tough spot.

But if we want to put this thing over, we may need to picket some stations or even the park. Just don't know if we have enough time to organize. It really sucks that we only found about this thing this week. :banghead: Though, we've managed to do a lot in a short amount of time it seems.

9. One guy out on Katella with a sign would get a lot of attention.
Nobody has the balls to do this anymore.

10. Thanks, pitohui...
:hi: I wasn't sure how long it takes to secure permits and such prior to forming a protest. I appreciate your information.

11. Ditto on the posts about being okay on sidewalks, etc
Many of us here in Tucson have done regular pickets outside a local military recruitment center. We keep to the sidewalk in front of the center, with our signs facing the street so passing motorists can see them. Don't need pretty little permission slips to do that..not yet, anyway.

I also didn't need one for my solo act of civil disobedience this past Independence Day, but I was also just roaming up and down the street.
