Did he not read the script and see that it was a partisan repuke fest? I just don't understand it.

I mean here is his donation list:

http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Harvey_Keitel.php

He not only gave to John Kerry in 2004 but also to Hillary Rodham Clinton TWICE

4. I wondered about that too. I have always liked him - loved "The Piano."
Did not know he was a Democrat. That makes it even worse that he would appear in such hog-wash.

11. Yeah but Keitel has had an illustrious acting career
I mean that guy has done some amazing work out there and racked up plenty of major acting awards and nominations. He doesn't need a crappy TV movie, hell he can just call Martin or Quentin and he'll be lined up for one of their next movies.

At least DeNiro has class with the 9/11 documentary he narrated for CBS. I do plan to watch that

6. The same way an actor can play a murderer, or a dictator?

12. Yes, but playing a murderer or a dictator usually isn't glorifying it
or presenting major misinformation about actual events in history.

I remember Robert Carlyle doing Hitler (and quite well I might ask), it was an amazing TV mini-series that gave some scary insight to just who Hitler was and how he rose to power. But imagine if that movie was written by Mel Gibson's dad, a man quite vocal that the Holocaust never existed and Carlyle now was playing this Hitler role where suddenly Hilter is lovable and jews never suffered under his rule. We all know that was clearly not the case but could you imagine the outage?

I probably wouldn't have watched any docudrama about 9/11, but I wouldn't have been outraged if they just presented the facts in an unbiased manner

14. You think George Clooney would do a movie like this?
Or Tim Robbins?
Or Sean Penn?
Or Robert DeNiro?
Or Susan Saradon?

Or a mile-long list of some of the great progressives out there in Hollywood.

Money Talks only to those who have no values. Clearly Keitel has shown he has none. I won't spend another dime on any movie he is in even if it is a Tarrentino or Scorsese flick. Hell Martin Scorsese is a pretty major liberal himself and an amazingly iconic director who has done some great films featuring NYC. Keitel's last donation to HRC was back in 2000 whereas Scorsese gave to her in 2004. I'm thinking Harvey isn't going to have too many more Scorsese films to fall back on

http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Martin_Scorsese.php

Hollywood has a long memory. I still remember when they gave director Elia Kazan an honorary Academy Award about 10 years ago. He was one of the first big Hollywood names to name names during Jospeh McCarthey's communist witch hunts. When he got that honorary oscar, most of the audience at the awards ceremony (and this was in the 90s) refused to get out of their seats or clap their hands.

21. No because they are REAL Liberals and Democrats! They have
proved themselves over and over again in real time and not just in donations to liberal and democratic candidates. I wasn't aware of Harvey Keitel's politics until now and it seems he doesn't back up his political contributions, hence my opinion of him, "money talks".

26. Here's a stunner, Amy Madigan - former board member for NARAL
and SHE is in it.

They seriously must have kept some of the script back.

I mean, one thing about Keitel is the guy is a dedicated NYCer and perhaps he might have seen the script for his role and thought this was a great way to remember what happened on 9/11.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amy_Madigan
Madigan is also a political activist; among other things, she has served on the national board of NARAL Pro-Choice America, a pro-choice/women's rights organisation.

Color me shocked! Five years after 9/11 even and especially a NYCer would want too know or at least question what happened that day, right? And want nothing but the absolute truth to come out.

although according to his ex-wife Lorraine Bracco he may or may not be abusive. I don't think that was every finalized.

He's a democrat or at least he was up to 2004 when he donated to Kerry

Her and her husband Ed Harris are pretty committed liberals

http://www.newsmeat.com/fec/bystate_detail.php?st=CA&last=madigan&first=amy
http://www.newsmeat.com/celebrity_political_donations/Ed_Harris.php

They must not have let the actors read the entire script

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001496/bio
Amy, along with husband Ed Harris, were among a strong minority of attendees of the 2000 Acadamy Awards who refused to applaud during director Elia Kazan's acceptance of his honorary Oscar. They were protesting Kazan's contribution to the Hollywood blacklisting during the Cold War.

some of his dialogue that I have seen is clearly inflammatory toward the Clinton administration.

Keitel should have had flags go up in his mind. I am disturbed that he did this, too.

It was created in hopes of convincing the population to buy into their skewed revisionist history of a national tragedy.

It was just a bad movie
