My e-mail to CBS...
Your Evening News 'Program':

I will be succinct. You have desecrated and destroyed a high quality program. You have combined the worst of Morning infotainment (your politically, journalistically, and experientally under-educated anchor), personalization (e.g. 'my two little girls' reference in your vaccine segment and the 'sign-off' discussion in the first show), and Right-wing propaganda, (by hosting Limbaugh the very first week, as though he does not get enough air time). It is disgraceful and shameful and neither I nor most of those whom I know are going to watch your network news until you resurrect your honor, dignity, and integrity. Since it is often professed that ratings are of vital importance, please understand that this upper middle class, middle-aged man, his wife, family, and friends, many of whom are professionals, will not be watching the CBS Evening News.

And for your information, my family of origin and I have watched CBS exclusively since the last days of Douglas Edwards and the earliest years of Walter Cronkite, who had the integrity to have Eric Sevareid as his commentator. From the Cuban Missle Crisis, to your unparalleled Watergate coverage, through the most recent developments in this remarkable world of ours, CBS was the most venerated and responsible network. I am afraid that it is no longer true. I look forward to a time in which you return to that which made you the most successful and respected News Division in the United States.

4. Don't fool yourselves people.
The corporate media has been whoring for the establishment and the elite for years. It's just that now they feel comfortable in showing it openly, because they figure the times are such that there isn't squat that anyone can do about it.

Who rules the corporate media? OPERATION MOCKINGBIRD,CIA,state media since 1940s

Alex Constantine

SNIP

OUR STORY BEGINS WITH THE CIA INFILTRATION OF THE
WASHINTON POST

***Philip Graham, __a graduate of the Army
Intelligence School in Harrisburg, PA, then
publisher of the Washington Post***, was taken under
Wisner's wing to direct the program code-named
Operation MOCKINGBIRD.

AND MOVED TO THE NEW YORK TIMES,
NEWSWEEK, AND CBS by 1950s

"By the early 1950s," writes former Village Voice
reporter Deborah Davis in Katharine the Great,
"Wisner 'owned' respected members of the New York
Times, Newsweek, CBS and other communications
vehicles, plus stringers, four to six hundred in
all, according to a former CIA analyst." The
***network was overseen by Allen Dulles, a templar for
German and American corporations*** who wanted their
points of view represented in the public print.

25 NEWSPAPERS AND WIRE ORGANIZATIONS, UNDER THE CIA

Early MOCKINGBIRD influenced 25 newspapers and wire
agencies consenting to act as organs of CIA
propaganda. Many of these were already run by men
with reactionary views, among them William Paley
(CBS), C.D. Jackson (Fortune), Henry Luce (Time)
and Arthur Hays Sulzberger (N.Y. Times).

FOIA: FREEDOM OF INFORMATION DOCUMENTS

Activists curious about the workings of MOCKINGBIRD
have since been appalled to find in FOIA
documents that agents boasting in CIA office memos
of their pride in having placed "important assets"
inside every major news publication in the country.

9. Yeah, the gloves are off now
That's the impression I've been getting with this bunch. They are safe enough now to not even bother to fake it.

5. Wonderful letter! I'm hoping LOTS of people feel this way -- and will let
CBS know.

I started a thread encouraging people to write: If Katie Couric is pissing you off, PLEASE write CBS and let them know!

6. Thank you...
I'm sick to my stomach...the media sucks in this country to begin with and this is just a new nadir and ironic that it happened to the best of the worst. Something tells me that it's gonna get worse, however.

7. It makes me sick, too. "Best of the worst" -- isn't that sad?
I liked Bob Shieffer, he seemed like an honest, down to earth guy. I kept my expectations low, knowing full well the degraded state of the news media in this country, but at least he seemed to be a relatively intelligent and honorable person.

Now we get the Britney Spears of (so-called) "journalism" instead. I can't stand that phony, shallow mannikin -- not to mention how clearly her elevation to "news" anchor demonstrates the contempt that Ruling Class holds for us masses.

8. Yes but...
all thes honest journalists allowed the theft of two Federal elections and never gave serious consideration to the nature of the conspiracy afoot. They only became concerned when it was their ox which was being gored (pardon the pun) during the Freedom of the Press issues involving the Plame case. Now...they're doing it again with the Armitage 'confession'. "What - me worry?"
