1. Good for Albright!
And she could win that one, too, even though she's a public figure, because in this case it wouldn't be hard for her to prove "actual malice" (the requirement that a public figure prove that a media entity published a statement with the knowledge it was false or in reckless disregard for the truth). Go for it, Madeline.

2. Good for her. I miss having somebody we could be proud of in our foreign
affairs and that the world thought well of.

3. That's the only thing that makes Repukes flinch.
Not the fact that they are lying. Not the fact that they are using one of the nations most tragic events for political gain. The fact that they may lose money trumps everything.

4. i had to laugh at this little gem......
Marc Platt, the film's executive producer, said that although it "does contain composite and conflated scenes and representative characters and dialogue, we've worked very hard to be fair. If individuals feel they're wrongly portrayed, that's obviously of concern. We've portrayed the essence of the truth of these events. Our intention was not in any way to be political or present a point of view."

10. Sounds like Mr. Platt
has a future in comedy. He should produce the next ABC sitcom.

7. You go girl and you rock and roll Sandy
File those suits then we can all sing

I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
and I won't forget the men who died
who gave that right to me
and I'd gladly stand up next to you
and defend her still today
cause their ain't no doubt I love this land
God Bless the USA

Free republic members have a hard time with the "stand up next to you part." Something about their cowardly little asses and their flaccid penis' and their inability to get it up for their country except in the form of a bumper sticker or a magnet. Yeah they just love it when someone else stands up and defends her.

8. My view is
ABC should go ahead and air it. It's a bad decision and is likely to backfire. A lot of people will show up at water coolers the next day with a "Did you see that bullshit last night?"

A lie has to be told to be a lie.

They obviously cannot re-write and re-film the thing so they can only not show it. The freepers will accuse "the Liberals" of being intolerant and criticize ABC as being liberal tools.

So it's really better they show it. To lie about something like the 911 Attacks is really low. Let them show it.

12. She hinted at it pretty clearly
by saying a scene involving her was "false and defamatory." That's a legal term of art you'd expect to see in a complaint in a lawsuit, and I don't think she'd have used those particular words unless she was making a not-too-subtle threat of litigation.

16. It was not there (at least I do not see the threat either). I think she
would have to actually SEE the film first. I do not think she has based on what I have read. In one article she said something to the effect of people talking to her about the film. Heck, Clinton does not have a copy yet.
