Religion & Government over 70 years ago somewhere in Europe

Hitler believes in the method of the Catholic Church, which knows how to build up a mental world,
by constant and periodic repetition throughout the church year of certain pasages in the Scriptures.
This leads to these chapters assuming a slogan-like concentration in the brain of the hearers.

The brain of the good Catholic is so furnished with slogans that his reaction to any experience is practically automatic.

1. Can't resist this one...
From the Hitler's OSS file:

He is always on the lookout for a dramatic phrase, the happy epigram which he can twist to his own use. He displays in the use of such a phrase a fantastic sense of cadence, assonance and alliteration.

One good phrase or political catchword is worth more to him than a cartload of dry exposition and theory. A good catchword gives the unthinking mob not only the material for a idea, but also furnishes them with the pleasant illusion that they are thinking for themselves.

There is only so much room in a brain, so much wall space as it were, if you furnish it with slogans the opposition has no place to put up any pictures later on, because the apartment of the brain is already crowded with furniture.

    pp. 8-9

The OSS sure had his number...Adolf's techniques seem eerily familar, doesn't it?

Great info and pix...like this one:

3. In "Mein Kampf" he claims he learned from the
American and British propaganda techniques in WWI. So Hitler it seems borrowed our playbook and made it his own.

4. The Nazi state actually favoured the Evangelicals. Oddly enough.
The Catholics were considered less German - dual loyalties, you see.

5. I know both Catholics and Evangelicals were doing their parts to help

Germany was split into south(majority Catholics) and north (majority Evangelicals)
