CALL ALL ABC AFFILIATES!! BLOGGERS/DEMS WILL NOW REVOKE YR LICENSE!!
Edited on Thu Sep-07-06 02:48 PM by Dems Will Win
OK. New Tactic for today:

CALL YOUR LOCAL ABC AFFILIATES AND ASK FOR REMOVAL OF 9-11 AND THREATEN TO ORGANIZE THE LOCAL POPULATION TO DEMAND THAT THE FCC REVOKE THEIR LICENSE FOR POLITICIZING THE AIRWAVES ILLEGALLY. ALSO LET THEM KNOW THAT IN THE MEAN TIME YOU WILL ALSO BE BOYCOTTING ANY LOCAL BUSINESSES THAT ADVERTISE ON THEIR STATION--AND THAT YOU WILL HAVE ALL YOUR FRIENDS DO THE SAME, THAT YOU INTEND TO WRITE LETTERS TO THE EDITOR, ETC.

They are broadcast stations, so the FCC has the right to do this. Since the furious Dems will soon be running Congress and then the White House, they can expect to have their licenses revoked by the middle of 2009.

ABC itself is a network and has no license to revoke--but the locals are a different story.

The locals can decide not to run it, I bet! (or they might not run it anyway--they can always switch in many markets to another network)

RECOMMEND THIS THREAD AS IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT--BECAUSE IT JUST MIGHT!

1. I suggested this last night
Make them lawyer up for each license renewal! This can add up to huge expenses very quickly.

3. Yes, you did! It's a brilliant idea.
We should do this all the time. No more taking their privileges for granted. No more passive victims.

:)

4. How do I find out when their license is up for renewal?
I'll happily cause trouble for them. I just need to know when to get started.

2. Can you or anyone explain to me how this works?
Sorry, if I sound like a moron, but I've never understood how the networks can broadcast whatever they want on "public airwaves". Do they license the signal from us (the government)? If so, why are the same people (ABC, NBC, CBS) allowed to have that signal every year? Do they have a longterm rental contract? When did we vote to allow them to broadcast on that signal? Why aren't we able to vote for the content we want to see? How does this all work? Can someone, please, explain it to me. Thanks.

8. tHE BROADCAST LICENSE USES PUBLIC
frequencies and are regulated by the FCC. Licenses have been revoked in the past for owners convicted of crimes but licensees must also follow the rules of the Communication Act.

If it can be shown that the Act's policies on political bias were knowingly violated by a public station, that would be the case against the local station. It would take years to try!

5. List of advertisers who throw good money at ABC
Be nice to them, tell them sweetly that you use their product but are stopping unless and until they renounce ABC, stop advertising with those neocon bums, urge them to correct the broadcast or cancel it, and advise you and the public that they have so done:

I haven't had a chance to poke through it but it looks useful at first glance.

10. Public participation in application or renewal
http://www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/decdoc/public_and_broadcasting.html#PUBLIC

Public Participation in Licensing Process.

Renewal Applications. You can file a formal protest against a station by filing a formal petition to deny its renewal application, or by sending us an informal objection to the application. You must file a petition to deny the application by the end of the first day of the last full calendar month of the expiring license term. (For example, if the license expires on December 31, you have to file your petition by the end of the day on December 1). Before you file a petition to deny an application, you should check our rules and policies, to make sure that the petition complies with our procedural requirements. Before their licenses expire, stations have to broadcast announcements giving the date the license will expire, the date on which a renewal application must be filed, and the date by which formal petitions against it must be filed. You can file an informal objection at any point until we either grant or deny the application.
