So, ABC has angered President Clinton and Madeline Albright
I understand that President Clinton has had his legal team in touch with them. It would appear that they've managed to anger people with the power to do something about their actions this time.

Assuming that they knew this would be the reaction to their lies, why do you think they were still committed to telling them? You don't do something like this to people with the power to make you sorry for your actions unless you have some kind of motivation that surpasses the reality of the repercussions.

NEW YORK Sep 7, 2006 (AP)— A "terribly wrong" miniseries about events leading to the Sept. 11 attacks blame President Clinton's policies, former Clinton administration officials said in letters demanding that ABC correct it or not air it.

Former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, former National Security Adviser Sandy Berger, Clinton Foundation head Bruce Lindsey and Clinton adviser Douglas Band wrote in the past week to Robert Iger, CEO of ABC's parent The Walt Disney Co., to express concern over "The Path to 9/11."

The two-part miniseries, scheduled to be broadcast on Sunday and Monday, is drawn from interviews and documents including the report of the Sept. 11 commission. ABC has described it as a "dramatization" as opposed to a documentary.

"ABC/Disney acknowledges this show is fiction and in direct contradiction of the 9-11 commission report and the facts, and it is despicable that ABC/Disney would insist on airing a fictional version of what is a serious and emotional event for our country," Clinton Foundation spokesman Jay Carson said in a statement Thursday. "No reputable organization should dramatize 9-11 for a profit at the expense of the truth."

1. That's a de facto recommendation for some
... namely, ABC's true target audience - anything that pisses off "the Clintonistas" is a good thing, if for no other reason than sheer perverseness

3. This is like in a court trial where an attorney lets some prejudicial info
slip... and the opposing attorney yells, "I object."
Then the first attorney says, "I retract the question."

This is the same thing.

Even though it isn't true the right-wingers are 'getting their message out there'.

4. OK, that I can understand
But couldn't they end up paying (monetarily speaking) dearly for this action? If legal action is taken against them and they are found to have committed liable or defamation of character against people of this stature the settlement could destroy a very rich empire. Or so I would think.

What they're doing almost appears to be a kamikaze like act of desperation to me.

7. It all depends on how it plays out...
In my humble non-legally trained or binding opinion.

It's part of the contingency plans to get sued.

This is why the front company UHP is being used to produce this 'piece-of-work'.
It only exists for this smear and it's expendable. Just watch they'll cut this
sucker loose as soon as the poop has been released from the shoot.

Giving the major players ABC, Touchstone, Disney and most importantly the GOP
plausible deniability... or a CYA.

They did *EXACTLY* the same thing with the Swift Boat Liars.

6. Hmm, this is getting ugly.
The Clinton's cannot afford to be dragged through the mud, Hillary has a long career ahead of her still, and Bill needs popularity to further his causes.
