Why does Springer take so many Freeper callers?

Every morning, it seems like, he gets a call from some loudmouth with the NY accent defending "President" Bush and spouting the usual Heil Hannity talking points.

1. Because it's mostly them listening--they're fans of his old TV show...

...and are listening expecting the radio show to be the same.

Springer never gets testy with freepers no matter how outrageous any of their comments are - thus they feel comfortable with him in expressing their stupidity without being pulverized for it like Mike Malloy, Randi Rhodes or Ray Taliefaro.
