Fear Of A Legitimate Threat
Fear of a threat, no matter if the threat is legitimate or not, is foolish.

I served in Viet Nam, on the ground, three tours. I got shot at a lot. From the moment I arrived in Viet Nam there was a threat that I would be shot. I fully expected to be shot at. It wasn't the threat that I was afraid of. When bullets were flying I was afraid; I was afraid I would be shot. Fear things that are real.

The appropriate response to a threat is to increase precautions, improve defenses, and if necessary ready one's self for offensive actions - it is not to cower in fear. Having accomplished those things one can them confidently move to remove the threat. Fear is not involved.

Hiding behind the skirt of an ineffective leadership who's only success in the arena has been to increase the level of fear in the first place is not a rational response to a threat. That, however, is precisely what we as a nation have done.

2. Keep in mind there are left wingers who have no problem with
giving their rights away. I have run into them on this board more than once. So, it is not just a one party thing.

8. it is LARGELY a 1 party thing
99% to 1%, like the Abramoff scandal, but 'both parties do it'. like hell they do.

exceptions don't invalidate the general truth.

6. Osama or Saddam didn't have to say boo
the junta just keeps saying they said boo.

It is pathetic that our population has come to this. We were a brave people once. I grieve for what has been lost of our national soul. We have become a nation of infants.

3. You realize of course, that this is exactly what they believe they do
or have done. Republicans believe that they have increased precautions, improved defenses, and taken offensive actions (like, say, the invasion of Iraq).

But you already knew that.

4. But, this is about securing an imperial corporate leaning president.
It's not about securing the nation.

The fear of Islamo-fascism is a double ruse just used to win votes from the pointlessly fearful. The * administration is not afraid and there is no Islamo-fascism. What there is is the rapid elimination of the presidency from accountability to the rule of law...

5. Considering that your odds of being struck by lightning far out weigh
your odds of being involved in a Terror attack I tend to agree with you. "The only thing we have to Fear is Fear itself"..

7. I'm not SCARED enough to vote Republican
Republicans rule by FEAR, so, by definition, they are TERRORISTS.

End the terror-rule, vote Democrat.

9. Most people have never sacrificed for the rights they have and...
enjoy as an American citizen, so it's easy come easy go, for most people in this country. The fools really won't know what they had, until it's gone and it's too late to get it back, without even more loss of blood, sweat, tears, wealth and yes, even life.

People forget all the fighting and dying that other Americans before them did, so that we could all enjoy the freedom and liberty, that we have all enjoyed in our lifetimes. The freedom and liberty that some would simply give up because the PNAC and Bush have created amplified and used the big scare. The Reich wing terrorists really are winning!
