Tony Blair is quitting
Blair to announce departure date
POSTED: 3:48 a.m. EDT, September 7, 2006

LONDON, England (CNN) -- Trying to quell politically damaging turmoil snowballing within the ranks of his own Labor Party, British Prime Minister Tony Blair is expected to announce Thursday that he will leave office within a year.

Britain's Press Association reported that Blair will use a scheduled photo opportunity to announce a date for his departure, after eight junior members of his government resigned Wednesday in a dramatic bid to force his hand.

The prime minister's office would neither confirm nor deny a report in the The Sun newspaper Wednesday that Blair had decided to step down as Labor leader on May 31, 2007, after rounding out a full decade in power.

1. Message from this Londoner:
Seeya Tony. Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya.

(I thought Tony would appreciate the God reference, given that he's a self-professed "Christian" - corruption, warmongering and mass murder notwithstanding, of course.)

7. BLIAR says
he's apologizing for the Labour Party. Says he'd prefer to do this in his own way but the next party conference will be his last as leader. Says he will not give a precise date. His a$$ is grass. Should be fun today.

8. Looks like the "The Third Way" is an exit ramp.
Now, if our own "Third Way" DLC could be guided to it...

12. Good.
There was a time early on when I'd watch Blair naively thinking he'd
somehow set America straight...

Then over time I determined he was part of the problem.
