About that 9/11 DocuDrama... something to think about....
Could we be overreacting?

Could Robert Iger have spun the story to ensure it made it on the air?

Consider this: Robert Iger is not a rightwinger.. He WASN'T Disney's CEO when Michael Moore's film was turned down -- Michael Eisner was. Iger only became the CEO last October.

Like someone else mentioned on here... maybe this thing really will (and maybe was meant to) backfire on the righties by the immense discussion it draws?

----->>>> Iger donates 56% of the time to Democrats / 15% of the time to Republicans

The Director >> David Cunningham (born 1971 in Switzerland) >> > http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0192289/ states:

"We are hoping our show will be a call to action," he said, "so that people are provoked to call their representatives and say, `We need to do different, we need to do more."

In this article in the SF Gate - -> http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/n/a/2006/09/06/entertainment/e130829D33.DTL

... they say this: "Presumably Clarke, now an ABC News consultant, will have a chance to reiterate his argument that it never happened when he appears Monday on ABC News' "9/11/06: Where Things Stand."

3. Thanks for the reply..
So you're certain it was made to diss Clinton?

I'm just making sure (after looking at all the people involved in the making of it..)

maybe they are all uninformed and just so easy to diss dems today and clinton particularly. and maybe it is all in the rw scruge of the earth that wrote the thing.

but it is still wrong and i dont want this in the schools and clinton worked ass off with terrorism and it is wrong to imply or state or show a picture he didnt.

7. Nobody here has seen it so the question can't be answered
I did see on the clip on Scarboro that it mentioned that republicans criticized Clinton's assassination attempt against bin Laden calling it "wag the dog", I wasn't expecting that detail of hypocracy to emerge.

Ben Vieneste on hardball was unwilling to call it biased. He stressed that it was inaccurate, but they tried to feed words calling it biased in his mouth but he refused.

8. Thanks Rockstone and welcome to DU...
I'm really wondering what the end result of the thing (regardless of its original intent) will be...

You're right.. we don't know yet.

I'm glad that they're letting Richard Clarke come on afterwards though!!!

10. Ben-Veniste only saw the first half
So far, the second half remains a mystery.

11. I read the detailed summary on Editor and Publisher - they saw it
and it is biased against Clinton. It shreds Clinton - almost mockingly as E&P describes it.

9. One thing struck me on Olbermann's show tonight
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 10:19 PM by George Oilwellian
According to Ben-Veniste, most of the hoopla is over the first half of the show...what does the second half entail? It stands to reason the 2nd half includes the Bush administration and if they're even half correct in portraying their inaction, it'll be devastating to the Republican claim that they can keep you safer when it comes to dealing with terrorists.

12. E&P suggests that people around Bush are made to look bad, but
never Bush himself. You see Condi, Tenet etc. looking bad. You never see Bush looking bad.

13. Welp... the way the media is, it's all we'll hear about for days on end..
...so we'll all know the lowdown soon enough.

DAYUM.. I guess it's just mind-boggling when you research those involved in the film from the director, producer, actors, etc..

I have to admit though --- the PR for this thing makes it sound like a Freeper's Wet Dream! ...

Did they all drink the Koolaid?

Or are they banking on a reverse effect of some sort occurring?

14. You have way more faith in the TV viewing public than I...
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 11:08 PM by Redneck Socialist
If the the reports from those who have seen it are even close to the truth, the most likely reaction from folks is going to be "Gee, it's too bad that there Clintoon fella fucked up on gittin' dat dere 'Somma bin. Good thing we's gots a fine upstanding prezdent like a bush lookin' out fer us now."

It's crap, worse than crap actually, it's propaganda timed to coincide with the elections.

ABC = Always Blame Clinton
