Attention Malloy fans...let's do something constructive.

At last check, there were over 11,000 signatures on the "Reinstate Mike Malloy" petition.

Are we willing to put our money where Mike's mouth is?

The reason Laura Flanders is being kept on AAR, and supposedly getting Mike's spot, is because she brings a sponsor along with her: the Nation magazine.

Why can't Mike bring a sponsor along with him somewhere else?

There is one station that has gone out of their way in supporting Malloy: Air America Phoenix. The fact that Mike does his show from Atlanta (like Al does his from MPLS) is evidence that you don't need to be in the city that's broadcasting you.

I suggest we band together as many Malloy fans as we can, and pledge our support, not just with our mouths and our pens, but our money.

Let's form a "Friends Of the Mike Malloy Show" organization, pool money, and agree to buy time on Mike's show if AAPHX picks him up.

If even just half of the number of people who have signed, 5,500 people, offer to pony up $5.00 a month to keep Mike on the air, it would go a long way to covering the expense of putting the Malloy show on the air. And if those of us who can afford to pay more put out $10.00 a month, it could become very lucrative (and very attractive) to AAPHX or another station to bring back Malloy.

Once he's on one station, it's not much of a jump to do what Air America was SUPPOSED to do with Marc Maron, and have the host station syndicate it to other AAR affiliates who want Malloy back.

I'll be the first to pledge $10.00 a month, more if I can, just to get us our Mike and Kathy back. Is anyone else here willing to take that step?

He's always done such a good job co-ordinating the relief efforts Mike had for his listeners and others that needed money. Maybe he'd have some ideas on the best way to organize this.

I have been in contact with Sarge and he is already on this! I think he is waiting to hear from Mike. Sarge has a column on www.powersandmorrison.com and he has been keeping us updated. Also, Mike did a live interview today with Guy James of the Head On Radio Network.

although I doubt Mike will ever go back to the main AAR network now. They pissed him off.

But even if he DOES go back, our money will hold more weight with the bean counters who made this bonehead decision than all our letters combined ever will.

If nothing else, all of our efforts to get Mike back on the air must make him feel good. Even if he chooses to tell AAR to go pound sand after they ask him back, he'll know a lot of us had his back.

With Skinner and the gang's permission of course, why couldn't we set up an advertising pool to which people could donate, and use that to sponsor Mike's show? And get valuable publicity for DU?

We at Air America Minnesota would like to apologize to the loyal listeners of the Mike Malloy show. Air America New York which provides us with a portion of our programming, but with whom we have no other ties, suddenly decided to drop the Mike Malloy program without notice. We are currently exploring all avenues to bring Mike back on the air in Minnesota.
