Kenneth L. Fisher is a columnist at Forbes, a business and investment magazine. In his latest column, he seems to really like some French companies, recommending both Suez Lyonnaise and Sodexho Alliance for investment purposes.

But while he may like our companies, he really doesn’t like us:

“I really dislike the French, so I love buying from them cheap and selling back later at higher prices. France’s Sodexho Alliance <…> provides food services in 70 nations to institutions like prisons, hospitals and nursing homes. With $15 billion in sales, it’s the giant in its field and benefits from economies of scale. It grows nicely yet sells at 50% of annual revenue and 13 times likely 2007 earnings. If all goes well, you will be selling in a year or two at a much higher price and the buyer will be French.”

Kenneth, thanks for the tip.

But while you enlightened us with your very professional opinion, how about telling us why. What exactly have I done to you, Mr. Fisher? What about my children? What did they do to earn that “dislike“? Did they look at you funny? Threw rocks at your windows? How about my parents? Did they insult you in some way? My brother, maybe?

1. The Conservatives have become clincally insane
It's gotta be sunspots or global warming or something.

They're just nuts. And it's stuff like this that makes the case.

2. As some one who has lived in Europe including France
I don't much care for them either. The Swiss on the other hand, just rock.

4. How does that I prefer the Swiss to the French mean I am not a
Democrat? IME The Swiss (regardless of canton/region) tend to be non pretensious people who care about effectively getting things done, including taking care all members of their society and caring deeply about the common good. The have a vibrant democracy and a forward looking culture. I wish I could say the same about the French.
