Radio Lady Seeks Your Ideas: What should we do for Monday, Sept 11, 2006?
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 03:59 PM by Radio_Lady
This is a continuation of another thread, now archived.

It will be the fifth anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center.

Next week, we are left with difficult memories from five years ago, on a fall Monday when most people will be at work.

Thank you in advance for your involvement.

1. I am trying to get permission to start a thread about this
but, here's what my thread would say:

Lately President Bush is still trying to tell us that Iraq attacked us before we attacked them. This blatant lying absolutely cannot go unchallenged. But who's going to blow his lies away unless we do? That's why on Monday, September 11, I am going to stand on a busy street corner here in Chicago from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. with this sign:

I will stand on a five-gallon bucket to give me an extra foot and a half of height so that I am above everyone else walking past. Several thousand people will see my sign.

But I have difficulty standing in more than about one place at one time, so I need everyone's help. So everyone needs to make their own sign that says simply, "Iraq Didn't Do 9/11," and on September 11, stand on a busy street corner near where you live at a time when many people will be walking or driving past.

Do it to fuck with George W. Bush and his supporters. He thinks he can lie to us without us saying anything back. Well fuck him. Let's show that little lying shit that we push back.

*If you can get someone to take a picture of you with your sign, you can send it to iraqdidntdo911@yahoo.com, and I will post it later.*

Oh, and repost this bulletin so that every street corner in America rings through with the truth as a challenge to Bush's lies.

2. Nothing, IMHO.
All this crap about 9-11 strikes me as more of a celebration, than a mourning. Present company excluded.

Nothing good came out of 9-11. Nothing fucking good at all. It was a disaster in every single aspect.

And the usual excuse for dragging this back up every september is so "we won't forget."

Well fuck that. Nobody's going to fucking forget because these same fuckers have been exploiting this shit every single day for the last five years.

Pardon my french.

6. Help me remind America...
that Bush has been exploiting 9/11 to get his war in Iraq. Sure people know it intellectually, but they need to have it pulled to the front of their cortex as often as possible.

3. Review the 9/11 Commission Report
... which pointed out that Clinton did FAR more to protect the USA from terrorist attacks than did Bush.

16. Two members of the panel have been on talk shows for the past
several weeks. (I'm drawing blanks on their names right now... yikes...)

It's a daunting document, but they stressed that many (or most) of their suggestions have never been implimented.

7. I think this is a great idea
Get five people together to make signs that say "Iraq Didn't Do 9/11." And then stand on a street corner with those signs while discussing that documentary.

13. OT: My husband's Mr. Travel Incredible, all right!
But he won't go to Germany. He was born Jewish but doesn't practice the faith anymore.

I'd love to see Munich and Berlin -- was previously married to a man whose parents came from Berlin and they all spoke German -- and my first boyfriend spent a couple of years with the U.S. Army in Stuttgart.

12. We're having a party at my house!
Before you :puke:, we're going to completely ignore all the 9-11 crap and celebrate my oldest son's 20th birthday - just family and his girlfriend and a couple of friends - dinner & cake & music with those closest to him.

To all those who have said, "What an awful day for a birthday!", I have always replied, "No, it's a great day for a birthday. Something terrible happened in this country on that day, but it's a terrific day for a party!"

I don't know what he's doing on that day.

We understand he was very shaken five years ago -- wanted to drive from Boston to NYC to help, but don't think he did it.

Hope you son has a good birthday! Hugs and kisses from Radio_Lady in Oregon!

26. Here's the actual link:
http://demopedia.democraticunderground.com/index.php/PNAC_101 (Thanks, LunaC...)

George W. Bush constantly reminds the nation about the threat of terrorism that began with 9/11 but he leaves out a few important details that you should know.........

June 1997
The Project for a New American Century (PNAC) was born. Populated by influential Movers of industry and Shakers of public opinion, the PNAC is an organization united in the vision for a global U.S. empire - "Pax Americana" - through coercion and military domination. Their philosophy can be simply summarized:

There are countries to plunder and fortunes to be made. You have it, we want it. Do as we say or suffer the consequences.

The U.S. already has a powerful military but we plan to nurture and grow it until it's massive and we are indomitable. Resistance is futile. We are.......
Dick Cheney, Jeb Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Paul Wolfowitz, Steve Forbes, William J. Bennett, Frank Gaffney, and I. Lewis ("Scooter") Libby, signatories - among others - of the PNAC's "Statement of Principles":

We need to...challenge regimes hostile to our interests and values.
We need to increase defense spending significantly if we are to carry out our global responsibilities today and modernize our armed forces for the future."
It is important to shape circumstances before crises emerge.
http://www.newamericancentury.org/statementofprinciples.htm

January 1998
The PNAC knew that he who owns the oil also owns the world so they sent a letter to President Clinton urging him to attack Iraq and remove Saddam Hussein from power since he put "a significant portion of the world's supply of oil at hazard". Clinton didn't grant them their wish and the PNAC was disheartened that they couldn't manipulate the military while outside of the White House power structure.

MORE AT LINKS.

The only terrorists we have to fear are those that occupy the White House.

I might go to a press screening of the new movie "Confetti" at 12 Noon. Not sure what the day will bring.

27. How about we treat it like December 7th.
We remember it without wallowing in it. Or we could declare it national victim-hood day and make it a national holiday.
