Dean on Bush's Gitmo Speech
WASHINGTON, Sept. 6 /U.S. Newswire/ -- DNC Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement following President Bush's speech today:

"It's about time that President Bush finally addressed Guantanamo Bay and the issue of bringing suspected terrorists to justice. For five years now, Democrats have urged the Bush White House and Republican Congress to establish measures to bring the terrorists to justice but President Bush has stubbornly decided to go-it-alone. Democrats want to aggressively fight the war on terror and ensure that we utilize the tools to capture terrorists, bring them to justice and keep America safe. This Administration likes to talk tough but it has failed to capture Osama bin Laden, even going as far as closing down the office charged with capturing the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks.

"The war in Iraq was a war of choice. The war on terror is not. The Bush White House and its Republican rubber-stamp Congress have limited our ability to fight and win the war on terror because of our involvement in a civil war in Iraq. For what we spend in one week in Iraq, we could be securing our ports, airports and borders. Democrats want a new direction for our national security and will continue the fight and win the war on terrorism."

3. Also, repeatedly remind Republicans...
...or I should say ASK Republicans...

Why do issues like Guantamo Bay become a concern for this admininstration ONLY two months BEFORE an election? :sarcasm:

(After the election...NADA...they don't need your vote anymore.)

Good statement.
