2. He's closer than he knows.
Not only do Republicans manage world affairs as they did with Katrina, they've spent what could have raised the American standard of living and prevented the Gulf Coast from disaster in Iraq, giving it away to their friends in support of a war for business at all costs. They're doing it over there because they can't do as much over here.

5. "a war for business at all costs"
And if it were a business it would be long bankrupt with
its leaders in prison.

9. Yes, the leaders should be in prison.
For malfeasane of office, lying to Congress, election fraud and treason. The short list.

4. Sen. Kerry's doing a great job enumerating the failures of the Admin.
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 03:35 PM by pinto
He's familiar with military structure and knows government operations. He makes a strong case for Rumsfeld's dismissal/resignation.

6. I'm no fan of Rumsfeld
But putting another honcho in charge of this quagmire with the same idiots in charge of this administation seems to me to be like re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.

I'd almost rather let this moron swing in the wind and go down with the ship he has put into the iceberg than let him bail and then be able to blame his successor when it inevitably fails.

15. Considering Rummy's intransigence & *'s loyalty, Rummy ain't going
nowhere. Which I think is precisely what the Dems are counting on.

in the the Admin playbook.

Probably a good move.

He's such an asshat, it hardly matters, but I would love to see him in the dock at a war crimes trial

mired in the ideology and would have to make some changes, especially in the political role of the military that seems to have mushroomed under Rummy. I'm no military expert, by any means, and it's really late in the game for Iraq. I don't see how that can change significantly. I'm thinking the next two years.

12. Oooo..
this is good. It conjures up images of the disaster; our economy is a disaster. It will also help people to remember Bush's failure to deal with the disaster, just as he has failed with the economy and everything else for that matter.

18. It looks like Shrum used the term first on Aug. 31 Hardball.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14622659/

BOB SHRUM, HARDBALL POLITICAL ANALYST: ... They are going to run the third 9/11 election in a row because they have nothing else to run on. I don‘t think it is going to work because I think that the American people know we have a Katrina foreign policy. This president says we have to win the war on terror. We are not winning it. Osama bin Laden is on the loose. Al Qaeda is reorganizing all over Afghanistan, has cells around the world.

27. I'm pretty certain Kerry has been using this since spring.
I also heard him say it last July at a rally in SC. Shrum's use may have been the first televised, though. I hope more Dems relate the two disasters to Bush.

31. Kerry referred to the Katrina administration
as early as September 2005. (I know it's in the Brown speech) In it he used how Bush responded to Katrina - to describe how the Bush administration did everything. He was also the first to use wizard of Oz type references - saying Katrina pulled away the curtain and there wasn't evn a wzard there (or something like that). Either Kerry has a wonderful sense of word play or someone on his staff is great in giving him these. (Given that he seems to have been like that since '71, I would guess it's him.)
