Chris Matthew--Kingmaker. OMG he just said
"We're shaping the battlefield here at MSNBC."

I hope that sucker is flat out wrong on every call he makes this election. What a pompous ass.

Fine example of the dangers of using hair coloring products.

4. We may not like to hear it but Tweety is rightwith that statement.
Ads and talking heads DO shape the election, and have a hugh influence on the outcome. MSNBC is doing a total day of candidate interviews and analyses today. Doing this for the full day WILL have an influence on voters. All the interviews I've seen so far, none are candidates from my State, but I've seen and listened to all the candidates and formed my opinion on them based upon how they answered the questions that were asked. Just the questions asked push voters in one direction or another.

7. Yes, he is right. We are a country whose entire perception of
the world is based in advertising and marketing propaganda. We are told what we should buy, how we should live, against whom we should compare ourselves, and how to think. Elections are just one suction cup in a tangled mesh of tentacles.

Lots of tough questions and good background. Watching Steele (R-MD) weasel is a delight! And the Feeeeeelix Allen 'macaca' footage never gets old!

5. Election Night 2000
I remember when Matthews and Brian Williams announced that Gore was the winner. You would have thought someone killed their dog. They were really not happy about reporting that news. That was one of the last times I have watched corporate news. It was so transparent.

12. I wonder how Iraqi/Afghan veterans feel about describing this
Edited on Wed Sep-06-06 02:28 PM by SDDEM06
as a battlefield.

I suspect their idea of a battlefield is a little different than MSNBC's.

I also wonder how Brinkley and Murrow would feel about a media organization saying that THEY will dictate the terms of the "battle" for the elections. I somehow don't see Edward R. Murrow saying that Ike or JFK need to throw down with him in order to get to the White House.

I don't know a single person- NOT ONE -in real life who watches that trash.

Frankly, it surprises me that so many on DU seem to.

It's a worthless show that at best leaves you misinformed.

19. Matthews show isn't for Iowa
it's for the beltway...same as a lot of these political vanity shows. They don't directly influence ma and pa kettle to vote but they do push those inside the beltway one way or the other which results in support and donations that often determine what OUR choices are.

I can't stand Tweety and the rest but they're not really speaking to us because we aren't in their crowd.
